Ultimate Sligs-Chapter 1 (In progress)
I decided to leave another taster of the up-coming fan fic, in fact when its done I might post the entire story...until then; I havent removed much gramatical or layout errors yet so dont think it will look like this in the end, also it may undergoe several reworks (as it already had).
Chapter 1: It is time
-Secure Chamber, Secret Level, Slig Barracks-
-3 days after the destruction of Rupture Farms-
Eba lay asleep, curled in a ball on the floor of his small metal chamber. It was a small room, a few metres in length and width, with a metal door through which food was given. This was all Eba knew. Eba had never seen beyond his rusted chamber, or out of the food flap, in fact he would have known nothing of any other life if the guard at his door did not talk to him regularly, although without being visible at all. He probably would have thought that the food was given by nothing, it just was there.
He had just had another ‘trip’. Every week Eba was given a special food, a kind of purple jelly. After eating it he would fall asleep, and when he awoke he would have a mark on his arm. The guard at the door said that was from the ‘in-jekk-shons’ whatever they were. He said that the jelly made Eba tired, and that when he slept the ‘Dokk-tors’ came and gave him his ‘Stare-oids’. Eba did not understand most of these words, but he didn’t think about it. In fact, he didn’t think about much. He had spent maybe two decades in his chamber, never seeing anything, and not thought about it at all.
“Hey! Eba!” Eba raised his head groggily and rubbed the needle mark in his arm. “Wha…what?” Eba pushed himself up and crawled across to the door. “What’s going on?” still drowsy from the drugs. “Good news buddy!” said the door guard “Today’s the day you join the rest of the barracks!” This woke Eba up with a start. Ever since the door guard had taught him to speak, and he had learned a little bit about his surroundings, he had always wanted to be with the rest of his kind, in the mainstream barracks. This is one thing he had thought about, why wasn’t he with the others his age, training to destroy the evil tribe’s people, and keep them under control in the amazing world saving factories owned by the Glukkons. His information source was slightly biased. “General Dripik sent a personal message requesting you!” This was big, really big! General Dripik himself. Eba didn’t know much, but he did know that Dripik was the owner of the illustrious Slig-Barracks! “When will you bring me there? Will it take long?” Eba crawled around in circles with excitement, its not he could much else after all. “Well? When will you take me there?” he repeated unable to hide his excitement. There was a pause, then a sigh from beyond the door. “…I’m gonna miss you little guy…” said the door guard quietly. “You’re not coming to?” Eba asked puzzled. “Hehehe” the door guard laughed, but still sounded sad, “You don’t need a door guard anymore, you’re gonna be trained, special like. You’ll be well able to guard yourself” Eba’s excitement turned to confusion. “Where will you be?” Eba stopped crawling around and leant his head on his arms. “Ah, after these new events at Rupture farms…” of which Eba knew nothing “…and my ‘outstanding guard work over the years’ I’m being added to a new crack anti terrorist force.” Eba knew he should feel happy for the door guard, getting a new and special post, but he didn’t. He felt angry, and betrayed. “But you’re the only Slig I know! How can I go without you?” He banged his fist on the door “How!?” No answer came from the corridor, only another sigh. “I’ve been told to give you this message; Use the well and wait for someone to come and collect you.” There was a cranking sound behind Eba, and he turned to see a circular hatch, which he had oddly never noticed before, opening outwards. When hatch was fully open, there was a whooshing sound from the hole it had revealed, and tiny rust flakes blew from it and floated to the ground. “…I guess that your ride little guy, and I guess this is goodbye…” Eba crawled slowly towards the well. “When my trainings done I’ll come find you, and then we can see each other, face to face. I promise!” Another sad laugh came from beyond the door “I look forward to it, Eba. I’ll be waiting.” The sound of the door guard’s footsteps faded as quickly as they had begun. Eba hung his head after he could hear no more and crawled closer to the well. He peered down and couldn’t see past the dark first bend. He didn’t like the look of it at all. He began backing away when a sudden gust of air blew rust flakes right into his eyes. He yelped and toppled head first down the chute, and with a whooshing sound, was sucked around the bend.
