Wel, naturally a queen is the same species as its children - otherwise it'd be like humans having puppies instead of babies. And that'd just be damned bizarre.

And they don't look hugely like their species for the same reason some insect queens don't - they're basically big egg/child producing machines, and have to be pretty massive to produce enough children in order to perpetuate the species.
