Whoa, this one sure got busy since I left last night. I can't be bothered to quote ... so here goes.

Firstly, there's always going to be people that don't like someone. There's probably people on here that don't like me. You can't expect everyone to like you. Like at the other forum I smod at, there was a vote for my position ... and out of the 20 or so mods (it's a large forum), two people voted against me. To this day I still do not know who those two people are, but obviously they didn't like me or didn't think I'd make a good smod for whatever reason. And that's fine, cause you can't expect a 100% vote. But those people were in the minority, just like I feel w/ those that don't like Peter.

Really, we don't need a divided forum. People have their opinions and are entitled to them, but I've been through a heck of a lot of forum divisions. It happened here almost 12 months ago, and I've seen a few over at the other place I mod at. They aren't pretty. People start taking sides and arguments arise. I myself unfairly dismissed a fellow admin from here. I regret doing that, and I'm not going to make the same mistake again. Believe me, you do not want a divided forum, no matter what your opinion is ... you're going to hate it here if you do. And I think we've recovered quite well from the events of a year ago ... but it took a while.

And I'm going to state here, that the smod position is not up for voting. There's a lot of responsibility in that role, in fact that person has almost equal powers to myself. A smod vote works on larger forums where there are multiple admins and the smods don't have vB CP access, but for a small forum like this one, this decision is made up to myself. I don't wish to make it sound like I'm being unfair. But sometimes people have a tendancy to vote their friends into positions. I'm not saying it will happen, but it might ... and I'm not about to let that position come part of a popularity competition.

Maybe I've been too attached from the forum lately to see, but even when I wasn't posting, I'd still be checking posts most days. From what I saw Peter was doing a great job. He'd make some jokes here and there ... but that's all they were ... jokes.

I'm going to type up a post explaining my absense for the past 10 months ... I feel you members deserve to know what was going on during my absence.

But by all means, create a poll. I'm sure both myself and Peter would be interested by the results. And if someone wants to point out any specific things, then do so. I'm only getting a general view from the anti-Alcar supporters at the moment, apart from this one incident.
