The doors could be fit with a small wormhole, but I think the only reason Abe moves so fast through those doors is because it would be way boring to wait for Abe to walk the entire way!
And I think some doors are so far apart because it gives us a chance to see some more of Oddworld. I just love it when Abe walks through a door and then you have to zoom through a dark factory or a brilliant landscape to keep up with that blue guy! Don't you just love those little FMV's?!
