I would have liked to've asked a similar question, but this person seems to have left. And why is Facsimile responding to Reese Charles' "insulting" post when it isn't even directed at him? Obviously such a badly thought out response that Facs here just couldn't contain the critism for Jacob to dish out (which Jacob has done in a spectacularly similar way).
I have just noticed I have answered my own question there so nevermind everyone.
What I really came in here to say was that Jacob has actually got a point here. And the problem of "who decides when a thread closes" is a difficult one to solve. My personal beleif is that anything such as this should be handled by the Mods and Administrators. But to be honest, leaving a thread open for just that little bit longer so that someone can have one last attack at someone is morally wrong. This sort of thing should continue on a seperate thread or over email/chatroom etc. once it becomes inappropriate. What I would suggest is that Mods leave a link to a thread where the argument has been continued.
Speaking of which, I think it might be a good idea if there is an Argument forum made, where people can continue their arguments in a place where there is no threat of a topic being closed by a Mod because its inappropriate.
This wouldn't do any good for the forums facial appearance, but it would lighten the load of everyone who posts (or works) here considerably.
