With Munch's Oddysee, the first time round I rescued as many Mudokons and Fuzzles as I could. It was only after I got the angelic ending I allowed myself to be nasty and kill them all. That's my recollection, anyway.
Alcar, I've played through the game doing similar to you - regrowing all the SpooceShrubs and not letting the Natives die at all. I've done some other things to improve my quarma beyond what the game bothers to measure, but I'm saving them all for something special.
