It seems to me that the Sligs are related to paramites in some distant way. The mouth tentacles look somewhat similar. When the Slig crawls, it looks alot like a paramite with the back cut off. Maybe the paramites evolved from ancient Sligs because Paramites also lived around swamps unless I am mistaken. Maybe Sligs used to eat slurgs.
