The wookies live high in the canopy and absolutly no sunlight reaches the forest floor. The entire Planet is covered in these forest. We might actually see this world in Episode 3 since Chewie is going to be in the next film. George Lucas already has mention that the next film will relate to Episode 4 in the most surpriseing ways. So I do hope we get to visit Kashyyyk. We also might visit Alderan as well. If you want a picture of that world I have one.
