Chapter2: Something smells
Karma lept across the plains in hot presuite. Her target was a jump's length away from her. Her paws clawed at the ground as she ran as fast as her little legs could take her. She almost had her prey, she could almost taste it's fur in her mouth when suddenly she tumbled head over heels and her victim got away. The victim, who was actually just her friend Deputy playing tag with her, made a u turn back to her, laughing his little puppy butt off. Blitz, who had tripped her, tumbled on the ground giggling so much he couldn't breath. Karma brushed herself off and smiled a playful smile. "You may have gotten away that time, but you're goin' down tomorrow!" Karma shouted to Deputy. "Oh there won't be a next time Karma..." Blitz growled playfully and tackled Karma, who retaliated with a snap to the shoulder. Deputy cocked his head confusingly as he watched the two zip around the field like lightning. Deputy leaped where he thougth they were, then they weren't. They continued this for quite a bit, until Karma stopped and sniffed the air. Even though she was a puppy, her sence of smell was extraordinary, even for a wolf. Karma followed the scent, causing the rest of the entire pack to follow her over a hill. Karma stuck her nose in the air until they topped over a particularly large hill, ending in a sheer, bottomless cliff. Karma stopped at the edge of the cliff, and looked down. There she saw many things, strange things, no tails, extremly tall, only two feet, and didn't have fur except for on their heads. Very odd indeed. the pups jittered among themselves, along with the adults, until Deputy spoke. "Daddy, what are those things? And why are they here?" Sarge, Deputy's dad, looked down fearfully at the strange beings. "Those, Deputy, are humans. Never go near them. No matter what." That was all he said. The adults walked back to the camp, the pups following suiet. Karma looked back at the humans for a moment. Her ears perked up. She heard barking. Loud barking. Just like a wolf but somewhat different. They shouted to her, "Come with us! Play with us! Live with us! We'd love you to stay!" but she simply howled back to the strange barks saying, "No thank you, I like my family. But I might come by to play sometime." With that she ran back to the end of the pack, and followed her family home.
