Well the only reason I would think they were smart is perhaps they were smart in the way they captured Elums by sneaking on their prey and takeing them by surprise. But that doesnt rule out extinction. You can be a smart hunter and still be killed off. Inteligants in the case of a Meech would be more along the lines of a small Dinosaur. I mean they were probabaly stupid for a creature but smart in the ways they hunted. I am trying to relate a Meech to that of small Dinosaurs as you might know in the Raptor idea. Ok so they may not have been too bright but that doesnt mean they were not awesome hunters. Well it works in my fan fics at least. Lastly maybe the Meech was a great hunter or scavenger but it could be scared easily like sudden noise could cause a Meech to just sprint off scared stupid. I don't know thats another theory I have. And if thats the case maybe that was why they were easily wiped out perhaps.
