Its a necromantic term. You follow the spirit of the dead back in time to the point of his life, then you become him. Doing this lets you travel back in time and do different things.
However, the necromancer must have his entire body, an object that the past life treasured, and an object the necromancer treasured. It also requires some heavy diagramming and a considerable ammount of power.
But, it can be done!
