“Vykker’s Labs?” Drogin questioned.

Trask stepped out, “I’ve heard about that! It’s a new lab where they make medicine and stuff of that sort.”

“We’re not gonna take you there, little gabbit.” Harc said with a comforting tone, “What’s your name?”

The gabbit felt quite strange conversing with three sligs, “Um, I’m Spark, who are you guys?”

“I’m Trask, pleasure to meet you, that short stuff is Drogin, and the big dude’s Harc.”

“You’re sligs and you’re not going to take me away?”

Trask laughed, “Ha, that’s kind of a funny story. You see we’re kind of like rebels, we don’t like working for the gluks anymore. Drog here ran away, Harc was banished and I, well, I was shot out of the Brewery. I was never really into all that sligish stuff, I’m also still in my prime-“

“Trask,” Drogin sighed, “I believe he gets the point.”

After a while of talking, the four strange companions made a small fire, cooked their fish and went on telling each other stories. Drogin just finished stuffing the last strip of meat from his fish into his mouth when he felt the forest floor starting to rumble. Drogin looked around frantically but saw nothing. Just then, the rumbling got worse and everyone else felt it as well.

“What’s that?!” Spark squealed.

“I-I don’t know!” Trask replied as he stood and scanned the forest.

Suddenly, a large mechanical monster forced its way through the trees to get to the sligs’s and the gabbit’s campsite. It was a shiny chrome thing with four tree crushing legs, two long arms with scooping claws on each end and on the head sat a giggling Vykker.

“Gah!” Spark screamed, “The Vykkers have found us!”

“Stop where you are!” the squeaky voice of the Vykker echoed through the forest, “What are you three sligs doing out here?”

One claw reached for Drogin. Spark quickly hopped and pushed him out of the way, causing the claw to pick the little gabbit up.

“No! Spark!”

“Go!” Spark yelled, “Run! Before he catches you! Don’t worry about me! This was bound to happen! Now go!!”

Drogin couldn’t take his eyes off of the gabbit sacrificing his life for them. Wasn’t there something he could do? Harc picked Drogin up and took off away from the giant robot with Trask not far behind.
