Part 3

*Setting: The Sun beat down heavily on the soft soily road. Hardly anyone was working in the village, hardly anyone was in the sunlight. Most were either inside drinking cool beverages or playing in the lake. Calen was one of many in the lake. She was being watched over by neighbours, allowing her parents to get some worry-free rest and relax indoors. Pet Dogs splashed through the water, yapping playfully around their owners feet. Loud splashes could be heard from the deeper end of the lake as the teenagers dive bombed in and shouted cheerfully. It had been 3 weeks since Calen's little scare and now the villagers were just trying to forget about it and enjoy the rest of life. Enjoy what they had.*

Child: "Calen!! Quickly!!"

The child laughed heartedly as he struggled out of the water. His skin was a dull green colour and his plume pink. He wore Elum skin trunks and 3 bead bangles around his left wrist.

Calen: "Ok...'ang on!!"

Paddling awkwardly to shore, Calen headed towards her friend. Smiling all the way.

Calen: "What...what t'is it?"

She worked her stumpy little legs onto the muddy bank and stood there, her plume dripping and dark body glistening in the afternoon Sun. The child looked at her cheekily and leant forward.

Child: "Yourrrrrr..."

He drew out his first word, before gently tapping Calen on her right shoulder and running, screaming the last word happily.

Child: "IT!!"

The female looked shocked by this and crossed her arms, scrunching her face up in protest.

Calen: "Not fair!! Dats not fair, Aawon you cheeted!!"

Her friend merely ignored her and skipped toward a group of other children, laughing. Calen sighed and slowly trundled after them, watching as they dispersed in to different directions. Some heading towards the farm houses whilst others headed towards shops and other random buildings.

Aaron: "You wont catch me, Cal. I have hiding place thats AMAZING!!"

He smiled, waved tauntingly and then ran away, kicking up dust as he did so. A sorrowed tut escaped Calen's lips and she shook her head slowly, looking around as she did so.

Voice: "I'll help you..."

She turned, her arms down by her side.

Calen: "Hewo?...Where are you?"

She put her arms on her hips and stood motionless, looking around with her pure-white eyes.

Calen: "T'is wude to not ansa when people speek to you."

Looking around she tried to spot whoever it was. Her eyes scanned the ground to the tops of the huts...no-one.

Voice: "I'll help you..."

The voice lingered this time and was more of a hushed whisper. The child shook her head and stook out her tongue, moving around in a big circle just so that she was positive she stook it out at whomever was there.

Calen: "I can do it fine, thankyou."

She walked off towards one of the huts, her hands clenched and her stride masterful and dominant.

Voice: "Please, let me..."

It was definatly coming from one of the huts, definatly. A mischievous smirk crossed her face and she quickly ran upto one of the glassless windows on the nearest hut and jumped up to peek inside. Her tiny hands grasped the edge and her feet pushed against the side, propping her upper-half high enough to see into it.

Voice: "I can tell you where...Aaron is."

Her head looked inside quickly and then disappeared as she dropped down and ran to the next hut. Doing the same once more.

Voice: "Come, come child. Stop this charade and just allow me to help..."

Calen: "How? Who awe you? Why do you wanna help me?"

She stopped peeking into other peoples huts now and just wandered in the shade, listening to the voice that spoke to her whilst she kicked a small stone.

Voice: "I know where he is...shall i tell?"

She stopped kicking the stone and turned quickly, hoping to catch a glimpse of who it was speaking to her.

Calen: "Who awe you...?"

Her voice was whiny this time and it was obvious she was getting bored of the 'game' this person was playing.

Voice: "I'm a friend...Someone who'll always be here for you, no matter what."

Her plume was gently brushed from behind by something, making the child feel as if her mother was blowing it again. She smiled and closed her eyes.

Voice: "I'll always be with you, Kahn. No matter what you do, or say, or dispose of. I'm apart of you..."

Her eyes slowly opened and she leant against one of the small huts, her back slid down it and her knee's came up to meet her chin as she sat.

Calen: "Whats 'dispoise' mean? And why do ya keep callin' me 'Kahn'?"

The being seemed to stroke her head, giving her the magnificent sense of warmth, love and protection. Almost making her drift off to sleep.

Voice: "You will soon find out, little one. Soon. But now you have to catch Aaron. He's in the pile of Corn Abraham keeps with the Horses...now go."

Calen smiled and jumped up, running in the direction of the stables owned by Abraham, not giving her helper a second thought as she stated the words;

"Ready or not, 'ere i come!!"
