Blatant rip-off of Grudge Match(tm) Thread

This is a bit of a take on something called Dilemma or Grudge Match. Anyhow, two people are posited a question by the mod, threadmaster, etc. that has 2 or multiple sides, then they pick a side and argue which side would win a conceived match. The "threadmaster" chooses a number and each side gets to choose a number. The side that is closest gets to choose which side they wish to argue and to either go first or second. Here is a suggested Grudge Match.
Sligster Vs. The Volsung: Is Hollywood unoriginal and too dependant on sequels and comic and book based movies?
I choose the number 420. Sligster chooses 84 and The Volsung chooses 187.
Volsung chooses to go first, arguing that Hollywood has become unoriginal. Sligster rebuts and makes case. The Volsung Rebuts. Sligster gets last rebuttal and argument.
Vote on who wins in a poll that would look like this
Is Hollywood unoriginal?
Yes. 44%
No.56%
Sligster wins.

I like that idea, sort of training people on how to become Lawyers...just...without the actual training and more of the fun.

Mac the Janitor 04-05-2004 06:38 PM

Obviously we should avoid certain topics because people are going to have preconcieved idea's anyway, such as an Abortion topic, the Religious on the forums will vote against that whatever the argument. And other such controversial topics...etc.

Hobo 04-06-2004 04:47 AM

Sounds good, count me in.

ClaireBear 04-06-2004 05:03 AM

I don't get it?

You mean like a debating society only on a forum?

(Sorry! Bear of little brain again!)

If so I think its a great idea... would those involved get time to research or is it a battle of google/yahoo skills as well as wit and arguement!!?

Okay, clearly I'll be the first Threadmaster as I started the thread. I forgot to mention that the winner becomes next threadmaster and so on.
The question is this
"Does America's complete Prohibition of drugs lead to more problems than it solves?"
Number picked. First two guesses go.

Jacob 04-06-2004 01:07 PM

310...the Lords above and below helped me choose that number.

Volsung 04-08-2004 05:31 PM

520. Whoever goes first argues yes. I guess.

Statikk HDM 04-09-2004 12:50 PM

The number was 338. Your move, Jacob.

Jacob 04-15-2004 03:30 AM

Ooohh, i'd rather go second and stand as Prosecuter...
