The Steef, Stranger, and an idea!

In this months update in Alfs rehab and tea Alf said that the Steef are noble beasts. Now here is an idea that is not really far fetched. Since we know that Stranger is conflicting with his inner self could it be possible that the Steef are sort of testing Stranger into some wierd bounty hunting ritual?

Like Stranger is a young Steef and if he can hunt down and kill a few local inhabitants he would be excepted into the Steef society.

It seems that a Steef looks to be an agressive species. Maybe he can't bear hunting others down to be excepted?

Paramiteabe... :fuzblink:

Eh...it's a nice idea, but I really doubt it. It just sounds too similar to what we've already had...I'm expecting this to be totally different than the others, story-wise.

Nice, kind of like how Native Americans determine when their boys have become men. I doubt Stranger is adverse to hunting people, though, since it's his occupation. I spotted that Alf called Steefs a very noble race, so that hypothesis I quite like.

That sounds like a very cool theory. It even links "noble beast" to "noble savage" and involves coming of age rituals. Very suave. Since he is a bounty hunter though, it does have a kind of snag.

Someone mentioned seeing stranger meditating in the woods. I don't know what they saw exactly, but if it was a steef (undisguised) it could be that your ritual works the other way. Perhaps Steef are noble beasts who's coming of age includes some spiritual transcendence. If that's the case Stranger could be trying to take an easy way out and use his natural senses to bounty hunt for a living.

This would mean his conflict was still going against tradition, only he would be going the more violent way.

I generally feel that Stranger starts (the game) pretty rough around the edges.

This poster was on the wall when Lorne was giving a talk to the Inhabitants in the X-Factor video. He actually looks to be praying.

I mentioned that picture in a different thread when we were discussing the Steef's origin and character. Everybody was leaning towards "the Steef is an industrialised hunter" kind of theory, that picture obviously shows that he or his species are much more intuned with nature.

I think that steefs are very mystical, shrykullesque race on oddworld. Stranger, for some reason or another, seems to have turned against the ways of his people in order to survive the rise of the Magog Cartel and industrial mindset. But I think that as the game progresses he will become more intune to the spiritual ways of his people. Or maybe it is the opposite. Perhaps Steef has been sent by his people to hunt down the evil "outlaw bosses". Actually, I think the latter idea is more likely... But we aren't supposed to know that until later in the game or something.

Speculation is really pointless in the long run...

I always got the vibe that Stranger was a bit of a loner, doing his own thang so whatever he is doing I really don't think that it is because the rest of the Steefs are telling him to.

Yes, Stranger is supposed to be a loner and a do-it-myself-er kinda guy. You can tell that he's one of those guys who goes it solo when he said "I think ya better stay outta my way".
