Get out ya westerns
To get myself in the mood for the new oddworld game i deceided to dust off my westerns and slap on a bit of Clint. I recommend people to watch the "Dollars" trilogy by Sergio Leone, these are A Fistful of Dollars, A Few Dollars More and the classic The Good, The Bad and The Ugly.
When Clint comes on screen you won't be able to stop yourself from smiling, cos you know he's gonna kick ass. I not a big western fan, but these films are great. i also recommend Unforgiven directed by Clint won 4 oscars and Once Upon A Time In The West (Sergio Leone) Remember don't laugh at his mule! |
Yeah, I've been bitten by the Western bug too, but haven't made time to actually watch any movies. We started playing Country and Folk songs in First Band, and my music coursework, coincidentally enough, was to compose a score for a Western scene. That makes me greatly anticipate the score and music of Stranger - I can't wait to hear the themes Michael Bross won an award for at the New York Festivals.

Hehe i watched a fistful of dollars again today and i can't get the tune outta my head!!
I was gonna buy a western called High plains something?? the main character Clint is actually called Stranger unlike the "dollars" trilogy where he's called the man with no name! |
Theres a weekly or fortnightly magazine out in Britain at the moment. Each issue comes with a free Clint Dvd. Looks pretty good

Yeah, I spotted his role as 'The Stranger' in High Planes Drifter ('72) and High Plains Drifter ('73). Alright, I admit it, I went back to tv tome to get the film title and dates, but Xavier can confirm I did find them before. :p
EDIT: Spotted that in the newsagent's where I work, Esus. Meant to have a look. Forgot. |

To get into the spirit, I made a little promo Stranger comic (which is usually how I get into the spirit of anything.)
It looks great, and I'll post it asap. Oh, and I hope they have at least one scene with the theme music from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. (Weeoo-weeooo...Wap wap wap.) |
No, dear God no! The very last thing we want is for the game to draw off cliches and signatures of other Western series. Maybe the odd homage (no pub intended), but this is Oddworld. The fan community was literally ripped apart with the appearance of SoBe, and since then everything from skateboards to pork has been criticised, in my opinion rightly, for its apearance on Oddworld. I pray even the swing doors shown briefly in the X-Factor show don't make it into the game. No offense, Dipstikk, but that idea makes me shiver.
