13 minute long trailer! and new screens!

On the Xbox site, they now have a 13 minute long trailer. You can still get the 1 and a half minute long one...but they extended it to a huge 13 minutes! I am watching it now...I am on a slow connection, so i can't see it very well. Monday I will get on my schools T1 connection and watch it in top quality.

Also, they redid the page a bit...and they have about 10 new screenshots!

Yeah I just finished watching it, it's not really a 13 minute trailer though. It's the same short trailer as before but after that it shows Lorne's Gamestock presentation. It has him playing the game, explaining lots of things, and also doing the voices because there is no sound for the game yet. It's pretty cool, although hard to see because of the poor quality. Hopefully it will be downloadable soon. At the moment it's only in Windows Media Player format.

i just finished whatching the movie it is awsome!!!!!!!!!

Elum 05-04-2001 11:04 PM

its 12 minutes and 30 seconds long. It will be on gamespot as a downloadable soon. just like the last one.

It's fantastical! Those voices provided by Lorne Lanning were hillarious. My favorite part was where Munch had to lure the scrabs into that area and lower the gate. Then he got killed! Disturbibg, as Lorne would say.

Wow! The first real gameplay demo in a while. I love the camera and the graphics, but especially the voices! It sounds like the characters will actually spontaneously say things, like when the Mudokon yells at Abe for bumping into him, or when Munch mutters "Oh shit" when he sees the Scrabs. It also seems the character responses will actually vary, so you won't have the same "Hello, Hello, Follow Me, Okay" sequences which you had maybe 3 billion times in Abe's games.

Small complaint: I think Abe jumps too high. Part of what I liked about the first games is that Abe was weak; he had no weapons save his chant, and he couldn't jump very well, which I thought made him more believable. But that's a small thing. I'm buying this game the second it's available.

*gasp* Munch said a bad word!!!

iliodd 05-05-2001 03:15 AM

Well, technically, that was Lorne... I think it's pretty funny.

Cloverfield 05-05-2001 03:23 AM

I just finished watching it... it is totally stunning, mind blowing, aweseome!!!

The details on everything are just so impressive... and the game play looks unreal. The more we see of this game, the more I can't wait to play it.

Osiris The Fleech 05-05-2001 03:38 AM

I watched the movie several times and never heard "oh shit". Could you be more specific as to where it was said?

iliodd 05-05-2001 03:40 AM

Soon after they go through the gate to the scrab field, we look at Lorne for a second, and he's doing a v.o. for Munch saying "Oh, shit". Munch says it again when he's in the wheelchair on the run from the scrabs.

Sydney 05-05-2001 05:16 AM

I also noticed he said the F word when talking about the Scrabs. He said they were like insects, and insects like to f*** with you! I thought it was hillarious, if a little astonishing.

well x box.com. every time i wanted to download the old movie There poped up a window, saiying i sould install such - oh i think it was a cookoie(!)- thing, telling me also i can trust them and It´s nothing bad.well if i don´t know what that is I don´t download it.
tey were saying bad words? That could be funny

Silversnow 05-05-2001 09:34 PM

That was just soooo great!! The part where Munch gets killed was hilarious. Not that i want Munch to die but it was that "Help, get me outta here!" or whatever he said.

glukkon_daniel 05-05-2001 10:08 PM

Okay, HOW DO YOU GET THE MOVIES!?!? I go to the site, and it's a page with no links to movies whatsoever! Someone give me a direct link!

iliodd 05-05-2001 11:40 PM

Daniel:

Go to xbox.com. Click the banner on the right with the ad for the new movie. On the next page, there will be a central rectangular thing showing screenshots. On the top side of that is a link saying "Video". Click it, and select the "Extended Munch's Oddysee Trailer", either 256k or 56k (high or low res).

glukkon_daniel 05-06-2001 03:38 AM

I'm sorry, but it doesn't say "video" anywhere. For me, it has that TV thingy that shows different Munch screens, then above that is the xbox logo with five links sticking out of it: News, games, hardware, community, and my xbox. There is, however, a sixth thingy sticking out of the xbox logo, but it has no words on it and you can't click it. Is that what you're talking about?

Sl'askia 05-06-2001 04:26 AM

daniel, on the top of the 'TV thingy' are two buttons, one that says images, the other says videos, click on the video one and there you go.

Oddipus 05-06-2001 04:36 PM

OK, I have a problem:

When I open the video I only get the sound. In the statusbar of Windows Mediaplayer it says: "Can't download a right decompressor" (Not exacly these words, I have a Dutch version). Is there anybody who knows how i can fix this problem.

iliodd 05-06-2001 04:39 PM

I had the same problem with the last trailer. I uninstalled Media Player and reinstalled it, and it worked.

Oddipus 05-06-2001 04:41 PM

Which version do you have? I have Windows 95.

iliodd 05-06-2001 04:42 PM

I have '98, but it shouldn't make a difference.

Oddipus 05-06-2001 04:47 PM

Actually I meant, which version off mediaplayer do you have. I thought the latest version doesn't run under '95, and maybe that's what I need? So I would need to upgrade 95 to 98 and how can I do that without spending money?

iliodd 05-06-2001 05:14 PM

You know what, I have no idea. I know it costs money to upgrade Windows but not Media Player. Call tech support, see if they can tell you.

I see your point Abe333, the xbox.com site has changed the location of the Oddworld section.

Go to http://www.xbox.com/games/adventure/oddworld.htm and on the little "TV thingy" click video, this will show you 2 videos with 2 different versions of each for different connections. Good luck.

Cloverfield 05-21-2001 09:13 AM

Looks like the URL changed since that post was made.

It's now at http://www.xbox.com/Games/adventure/oddworld.htm

Click on Video and Gamestock Extended.

I've never had the problem you are referring to, it could be a Windows 95 issue... however any videos through Media Player seem to play really dark on my computer for some reason.

Abe Babe...

abe333 05-22-2001 07:50 AM

i cant find it on the given page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
