i think we should reopen the spoiler forums to post up all the infos for O4. It would calen out GD abit.

Although I'm not sure what GD would actually be used for, what with most of the news in the future destined to be Stranger-related. Kidding: what I am concerned about, though, is people posting in old MO spoiler threads. I'm wondering if these threads should be moved to GD now, or just left where they are. I'm all for keeping them in the Spoiler Forum, since moving them's not going to stop people from bumping them back up. I trust most everyone who's already here, but as OW4 approaches, it's reasonable to predict a steady influx of newbies, and while I don't a prejudice against new people, you have to admit it would be naive to be... naive about them.

A spoiler would be info about the game that would give something away to those who haven't played it. We aren't at that point yet...in my opinion.

All the threads from the Spoiler Forum will be mass moved to General Discussion before we re-open the Spoiler Forum. I think you've mistaken the Spoiler Forum for what it is. Threads relating to Stranger may still be posted in General Discussion, it's just that in-game talk about Stranger where information about the game is revealed should be kept to the Spoiler Forum.

The Spoiler Forum will open when Stranger is first released :)

Why not just get our heads out of our asses and rename the spoiler forum "Spoiler & Preview forum"?

Alothough previews and such can can provide insight to the story, we don't really have much of that yet. Yet. I think the best thing to do would be to reopen it, move, lock, or make a strong statement not to post in old threads, and give clear, strict guidelines as to what posts should go there.

I'm sure that you could draft up something like that, right Max?:-p Have the guidline post be put in both GD and the Spoiler forum, stickied. That should cut down on quite a few problems that should ever arise.

And in the meantime, I think somebody needs to create a collective Steef thread listing everything known. Images, text information, etc... Then sticky and lock that, so people can make posts that refer to places in it. That would probably be quite nice.

Basically, what we are doing, is opening the forums in the same timeframe we did for Munch's Oddysee. The Spoiler Forum was opened a few days before Munch's Oddysee was released.

It was to contain spoilers. Any information that didn't contain spoilers, could be posted in General Discussion as normal :fuzzle:

well simply one of the 2 mods can move subjects from one forum to annother if we think some new info contains spoilers or not.

Why don't we just simply merge all the threads that are about Steef and make a thread called the "Ultimate Oddworld 4 Discussion Thread". That way there will only be one single thread. It will save a lot of space and people won't have to look around for different Oddworld 4 threads.

Now I've noticed how there is a lot of Polygon threads in GD no offense to Oddguy but I think we should merge all those together all into this "Ultimate Steef thread and then when the time comes up until a couple days before release move it into Spoiler. Thats probabaly the most logical thing to do. But thats my own opinion.

Yeah, I suggested the "Get the Oddworld Issue of Polygon while you still can!" and "Polygon...the Oddworld Issue" be merged. I do however think the Polygon Transcript thread should be seperate for easy viewing.

All Oddworld 4 threads merged? All information was repleased at different times, it would be a major hassle to sift between posts and pages to find the right stuff.

Agreed. Not all the threads about OW4 should be merged. It'd be too damn confusing methinks.

Spoilers and previews are content of the same ilk. As I said before, I suggest we all get our heads out of our asses, and just re name the damn forum to include previews.

OTHERWISE GD will become full of preview threads. And most of them will be by noobs. And who would want that?

That didn't happen for Munch's Oddysee as far as I remember. All previews we got were on outside websites, that actually reviewed them.

If a thread contains a spoiler, one of the Moderators of General Discussion will move it to the Spoiler Forum. That is why the Moderators of General Discussion are the same moderators of the Spoiler Forum.

Merging all the Polygon or Stranger threads is, in my opinion, a far-fetched 'solution' that's only going to lead to confusion. Oddguy's right in his suggestion of the two threads that should be merged, though, as they are really the same topic. One thread summarising all we know is a great idea too, Majic. I'll set aside time to do that.

But primarily I agree with Death. 'Spoilers' is always going to be a subjective term - previews are going to contain plot points, after all, and I can only assume that x number of people don't want the story ruined for them. Above that, it would provide relief for GD's actual discussion. I should be able to come up with some guidelines at some point - at this stage I don't think it's absolutely urgent to open the Spoiler Forum, but some time soon.

But adding to a previous point. The last time the Spoiler Forum was opened, I don't think there was a major 'spoiling' of the game. Going off what happened in the case of Munch's Oddysee, I can't see anything drastic going wrong. We have two dedicated Moderators overseeing both General Discussion and the Spoiler Forum, so opening later rather than sooner shouldn't be a problem.

As far as I can see, I was agreeing with Max. That with him drawing up guidelines was a good idea. He also mentions in his post that it isn't urgent to open the Spoiler Forum either, just some time soon.

I don't WANT to see previews. I don't want to know what it will be like. I want it to be a suprise. Therefore, any previews spoil it for me. Thus, previews are spoilers.

Now, like I said before; get your head out of your ass, and just ****ing agree with people for once. Not on the petty issues that other people sort out for you, but on the major ones that you need to sort out, you lazy ass.

People, stop fighting. Death is absolutely right about previews being spoilers. Like when you see a trailer for a film you like, it could spoil it abit to watch. I think we should just put them in there to stop the argument.

Death, the reason I chose the words "But adding to a previous point" instead of "But adding to your other point" was because I wasn't referring to Max. I was referring to previous points other people had posted. Not Max. Even so, that last paragraph once again agreed with Max (that opening later rather than right now is better). Not once in my last paragraph did I mention anything about previews.

Speaking of previews. If Max deems previews to 'spoiling' in his set of guidelines, them by all means he can move them to the Spoiler Forum. However, the previews won't be starting for a while, so in that period we wait. If Max or Xavier want to start moving previews into the Spoiler Forum, all they need to do is contact me and I'll mass move all of the current Spoiler Forum threads into General Discussion. Until then, Spoiler Forum remains an archive.

Well now, that all seems nice and sorted. As soon as me or Xav spot a spoiler (or someone points one out for us), we'll just contact Alcar, who'll move the existing Spoiler contents to GD and reopen the Spoiler Forum. I certainly will put previews in there, though, and since we agree they're definitely spoilers, there doesn't seem to be any need to rename the place.

At that time, I should have completed the guidelines and the Oddworld 4 summary topic, and will be able to post them up.

I didn't read the intire topic (didnt feel like it).
But why was it shut down in the first place? Ive been away for a while.

It was closed because Munch's Oddysee had been since released for quite a while, so the spoilers werem't really spoilers anymore.
