Hehe, yeah, I saw that earlier. But his name was only mentioned once, and actually mentioned in a list of people I've never heard of.

Alcar...

Yeah, probably didn't need to make a whole thread on it!:D

Another piece of useless news...

Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy features Oddworld style gaming with Possession ability.

http://gamesdomain.yahoo.com/feature/6981

:

Mind powers wouldn't be much fun without the ability to take direct mental control of enemies against their will. Psi-Ops has that feature, too. (Scryer's physical stance during control episodes amusingly pays homage to Abe from the Oddworld games.) Not sure if that constantly cycling energy surge is harmful? Simply take over the motor functions of a nearby hapless guard and "oblige" him to step out into the hallway. If the target bursts into flames, you've learned a valuable lesson. At the cost of a large psionic energy drain, players can even convince nearby enemies to put their weapon under their own chin and pull the trigger. Yucko.

:

2004 marks the third installment of the Indie Game Jam, an event that is set to take place in Oakland, California, this weekend. Over a four-day span, 20 developers from big name studios, such as Maxis, Ion Storm, Oddworld Inhabitants, and GameLab, as well as several independent development houses will collaborate to create, quite literally, dozens of games.
Oddworld is everywhere right now... but no infos :(

Beat you this time.

The Indie Game Jam sounds right up OWI's avenue. I hope their attendance doesn't slow down production of Stranger.

Xavier 03-22-2004 08:09 AM

common Max, they can chill out, no?
just a couple of days ;)

Wil 03-22-2004 09:09 AM

You're right, I guess I didn't spot that working hectically on creating an imaginative and innovative new game type in two days could be considered "chilling out". :p

But a break from Stranger might be good for their energy. Even though Stranger is already a break from the Quintology. And Oddworld is a break from the normal video game development team. :)

Xavier 03-22-2004 10:10 AM

well I understood this event like a little fun and a friendly competition between devloppers...

Wil 03-22-2004 10:59 AM

That's exactly what it is... I'm just failing to be funny.

maybe it's me, I'm just failing to understand your humour, being too tired

oddguy 03-22-2004 12:28 PM

They should really make those Gam Jam Sessions availible for purchase. Not in a huge quantity, but enough so that those of us that like to go behind the scenes of Game development can play. ;) Well, the article says that the results can be viewed, so I'll see what's going on when the info comes.

I wonder what game OWI will come up with...
it won't probably even be oddworld related
