Whats with the ranks?
 
Why does it seem that the more you post the less badass your rank becomes? Seriously, if I hasd the choice of exsisting as a Big Kahonee or an Armored intern, I'd take the Kahonee.
In fact, that ranks kicks so much that I want to be dropped a rank and froze at it. Please?

I know the feeling, but after all It's just a way of showing how many post you've posted. Your rank doesn't actualy DO anything. If it's a big deal to you, then I'd at least ask for a custom title that says the rank you want (it wouldn't be custom, just selected.)
Or you could campain for a similar system sa at DDRUK.com (you earn rank/av's and pick whichever one you've already earned.)

Of course you don't have a problem with your rank, Oddguy. It owns. Plus, you wield a shiteload of power on these forums. If you wanted to change your avatar to "Supreme Ruler of all other Oddworld loving peons" we'd be powerless to stop you.

Seriously though, rank isn't really important to me. When I first got here I thought rank was everything, but after being here for a while, I find it doesn't mean much. If you're cool, people are going to like you, no matter how many posts you've made.

You get to have a custom personal title/rank when you're a moderator. Until then, you must submit to the post counting method.

Custom Titles

Some members are awarded custom titles. A custom title may be awarded to a member if they are a good member of OWF. This may mean that they contribute in a positive manner to the forums, show consideration or kindness towards other members, or any other reasons in which we find fit to award such to a member. In most cases a member would need to be at OWF for some time before being awarded a custom title.

To be honest I couldn't care less about whether I was a Shaman or a slurg. It doesn't affect my enjoyment of the forums in any way what so ever.

Custom titles are given to people who have proved their worth, I can name members some who should have custom titles, but don't, and some who don't deserve the custom titles they have.

Some moderators don't have custom titles while others do, it all depends on their contribution towards the forums, you can win a mod election by being popular, but that alone isn't a reason for a custom title, I got mine for being willing to help, and for my extensive work in the RP forum, Alphascrab got his for his knack at helping people through the oddworld games.

I don't know what point I was trying to make in that post, but I still think I'm a bit drunk from last night.
