Hint Hint...

Hello all....I know this is kind of small to make a whole topic about but I just wanted to see what you have to say.

I was browsing through some of my issues of game informer when I came uppon something that caught my eye. In the trivia section they asked a question about Oddworld...

Abe, the star of the Oddworld games, is what kind of creature?
A. Muglok
B. Tronkin
C. Scrab
D. Mudokon

Well we all know Scrab and Mudokon are official but these other names we've never heard of. Do you think that these are just made up names for Trivia or are they possibly names for the new guys of Stranger?

What do you think?

oddguy 02-18-2004 01:05 PM

It depends...how old is this issue of Game Informer?

Sekto Springs 02-18-2004 01:09 PM

About two months I think, I'm pretty sure it's the December issue, It doesn't say. I still think it's a fair copp. Anything before December sounds a bit too far fetched. This will kick up some theories...I just wanted reponses :fuzwink:
They certainy sound Oddworldian, but then again i guess alot of things can.

paramiteabe 02-18-2004 01:53 PM

Perhaps because I feel as if Muglok would be a perfect name for one of the huge poachers. It sounds right ya know?

We know Stranger is a Steef and the Chickens are Clackerz. I wouldn't rule out the possability. because one it was issued in December.

Joe the Glukkon 02-18-2004 02:20 PM

A Tronkin and a Muglock, I love those names.Perfect for Oddworld. If OWI knows how about these names, they can put it in Stranger's game or in any other future Oddworld games.I doubt that OWI came up with those names. The magazine was just probably giving us made up answers that sound related to Oddworld.

oddguy 02-18-2004 03:12 PM

Hmmmm, maybe those are character names...ya never know. Sounds like something OWI would do. Although, if you take the letters from Tronkin and Muglock and mix 'em up, you get Glukkon!

g l u k k o n
t r o n i m c

The left over letters don't make any sense to me. Maybe the magazine just took glukkon, added some random letters and split it up for fun...I dunno. I am very bored! :p

I think they'd be made up names, as the trivia section sounds as if it was created solely by the magazine - meaning, without contact from OWI.

Alcar...

Bingo! Exactly what I thought.

-oddguy :fuzcool:

EDIT: I mean, ya don't have to contact OWI just to do trivia...right?

Esus 02-18-2004 09:37 PM

I think the magazine made them up to fill in the other spaces..

Fez 02-18-2004 10:12 PM

maybe their just names from other games. Magazines do that sometimes.

Lol, no. What I meant was, the magazine wouldn't have contacted OWI about other 'names' of species to use in their trivia game. Instead, they would of made them up.

Alcar...

made up names... it would be stupid to hide new names there...

Sekto Springs 02-19-2004 09:43 AM

Muglok sounds like the name for those poachers. It looks like you guys think they're made up. Oh well, maybe I should have made this a poll :p

Joe the Glukkon 02-19-2004 09:51 AM

Mudgluk sounds good for that poacher.Tronkin sounds like a good name for this guy:

But was this image the previous production design of steef?

Xavier 02-19-2004 09:55 AM

this guy is an early concept of a Steef...
or Stranger... ;)

Yeah,I thought so.It's face looks similiar to the Stranger we currently know right now.

Sekto Springs 02-19-2004 10:12 AM

I hope they are official names, I like the sound of Muglok :p

On the Discovery Channel thing, they had gameplay videos with both Stranger ( normal ) and the deer-like creature. They also mentioned that Stranger and the deer guy are "the same person". My theory is that Stranger somehow learns how to transform into a spritual "guardian", aka, the deer-guy, to fight bad peoples. But thats just my opinion...

Esus 02-19-2004 09:19 PM

I thought that the 4 legged centaur-like steef was Strangers true forum, and his more human appearance is a disguise....

oddguy 02-20-2004 02:19 AM

Right you are, Esus. In X-Factor Lorne shows side by side comparison of Stranger in and out of disguise. We just don't know how he goes between the two. :fuzconf:

paramiteabe 02-20-2004 02:28 AM

Yeah thats the very profound odd thing about Stranger. Lanning explaned how we are supposed to get connected with this character before we truely find out what he really is. I think the change will be put in as steps for Stranger as we see him slowly turn into his true self. Lanning also stated this game is going to be real edgy. So its going to be intresting.

Xavier 02-20-2004 08:40 AM

I think stranger's form is simply evolving during the game...
maybe he has a mistic spell on him or something

Joe the Glukkon 02-20-2004 09:45 AM

:

Oddworld and fairy tales=Bad :p

I wouldn't want any spells on Stranger or anything like that, but it would be pretty cool if Stranger could transform into a creature just like Abe transforms into Shrykull.
