Ban Lucipher

I suggest we rid ourselves of this troublesome member.

"I seriously doubt that you could afford all that, if you could then you wouldn't be sitting at your computer like a beached whale with the rest of us deadbeat forum members."
May I also remind you of Luciphers' "episode" late last year. This more recent influx topped off with all his previous "felonies" add up to a general picture of someone who doesn't want to contribute, but would rather stir things up, and generate mayhem.

Although I might be accused of same, I make a conscious effort to get along with you people, and to contribute. I've helped solve OWF forum issues, suggested new rules, taken part in competitions, and added alot of content. I've also started alot of very productive threads in the past.

I'm really getting fed up with this guy, and he seems to be getting away with it - we should either ban, suspend, or at the very least, issue a severe warning.

Fez 02-08-2004 02:34 AM

as his mate i am going to stand up for him. I agree he shouldnt have done most of the things he has done, and as he only goes on when hes round my house i should have some sort of control over him. So i guess i'm letting him get away with it the most. I dont thnik we should ban him. He can change, trust me. Give him a warning of some sort in a custom name. That way hes sort of been "branded" and he wont make the same mistakes again.

oddguy 02-08-2004 06:31 AM

I don't know about permanent banning, but he does need some discipline. I see him bring up old topics just for fun and say senseless things a lot lately. He just went to a thread in off-topic about new rules for the forums. This is an old thread because the last thing it was talking about was the avatar size needing to be bigger. Ok, problem has allready been solved, but Lucipher posted anyway.

Ok I understand why you hate this person so as a Mod heres a little suggestion.

If you have a complaint pm a Mod like Me, Xav or Al or any of the other Mods or pm Alcar or Abe Babe your complaint. Don't make a seperate thread because your pissed off at someone or because nobody really wants to see that, because this is spam. And it should be told through private messaging.

Thankyou,
Paramiteabe...:fuzblink:

Glad to see you stand up for him. I just wish people would have atleast not treated me a bit worse when I stood up for Jeremy (MasterChief) last year.

As for what to do with Lucipher, I dont think a banning would be in order, yet. I just think if things get worse warnings must be issued first, and then if it were to get worse, etc. More permanent, or also temporary bans, and other solutions might be in order.

Just my two cents for now.

I agree, there is no need for executing a permanent ban, just because someone is behaving a bit nasty. I mean, Death, you can be quite nasty too. at some times...

I know, but never to the scale that lucipher has been working things on. Yes, this thread is a little outrageous, and yes on the odd occasion I've been involved in heated debates/arguments, but I'm fed up with your light hearted approach to dealing with annoying people.

One minute he's calling everyone names, flaming and ranting, the next minute he's spamming the place with public apologies. Then after all that he goes back to causing mayhem again. He may well be a perfectly decent person in person, but when he gets on this forum it's like someone let an anarchist loose. And frankly I see no better way of dealing with it than having a public debate on how it should be dealt with.

I find warnings hard to take seriously, when it's just one moderator, over one pm, giving me one polite warning. If I were Lucipher, I'd certainly sit up and pay attention to a thread like this.

There's a myriad of ways to call this problem sorted, but the way I see it, there are only two ways to handle this; pretend there is no issue, and wait and see if it continues, or tell the little devil that unless he packs his ideas up, he'll be banned. I favour the latter.

Abe's son 02-08-2004 02:07 PM

Lets ban the suka...

Joshy 02-08-2004 07:43 PM

I just say give him a warning about spamming, also has he accumlated 3 warning points yet? Afterwards if he actually got 3 warning points, then we should have a temporary ban. But if he doesnt have any warning points, then he shouldnt be banned.

I have a feeling that he already has 2, this would be his third warning.

Fez 02-09-2004 09:08 AM

i spoke to him at school today. He says he hadnt done anything! also he acts like this in real life. Anyway. He wants to stay on the forums so we should just give him a warning. Or "brand" him.

SeaRex 02-09-2004 10:15 AM

Or "brand" him.

Bad idea. Online scarlet letters always end up as badges of honor.

I've noticed that Lucipher post legitimate stuff as well. Perhaps it would be better if Death would make a final attempt to patch things out (through PM, naturally) with Lucipher, much like he did to hobo. Not counting spam, I haven't really noticed Lucipher pestering anyone besides Death.

But that's just my opinion. I suppose it's really up to Majic, Alcar, and AB to pass a final verdict.

Wil 02-09-2004 10:30 AM

Why Majic?

Majic 02-09-2004 11:27 AM

Because I am a god. On your knees, now.

In all seriousness though, whether my opinion counts or not, I think one warning would work fine. Just to show how people are serious against stupidity.

SeaRex 02-09-2004 12:37 PM

Actually, I said Majic because most of the hubbah seems to be going on in Off-Topic, so I thought he would have some insight on it.

...

And he's a God.

Majic 02-09-2004 03:16 PM

I edited his post in my spam topic, because it greatly increased the width of the forums, much like this thread here. Although I don't want to destroy the evidence completely by editing this post... After all, this topic will die, the reminders on spam is meant as a sticky.

As of now, since I have time, I'm going to create a "General Posting Tips" sticky thread. In hopes that someone will read it. Hopefully, it shall serve it's purpose when OW4 comes out.

Codek 02-09-2004 11:32 PM

If you give him one more warning, he will be banned. He already has two, one more would be a third.

Fez 02-10-2004 07:18 AM

he only comes on while hes around my house, do you want me to pass any warnings to him?

Al the Vykker 02-10-2004 10:48 AM

How do we know he has two warnings, where was it stated before? :fuzconf:

Remember when he went off on a rant at me? Well that earnt him a warning, and I distinctly remember alcar telling him at the time, that he should be careful, since he apparantly already earned himself a warning, previous to his last incident.

So that's how I know. Any warning you give him now, will just get him banned anyway.

Can you please provide the thread and quote that a moderator gave him a warning. That would be easier for the mods to refresh their memory. Since they are not omnipotent like me.

I can't remember which thread it happened in...

Which thread was it?

I'll check the warning Database, I'll edit in the results....

He doesn't have any recorded, though , despite what we think, us mods are only human and may forget to record them in the database...

Lucipher 02-19-2004 08:17 AM

I am hurt by this, and also didn't I stand up for people when Heretic was messing about? I have NOT gotten any warnings at all and I think the mods know that I don't. And when I said about Death's warhammer and bb guns and his ability to snowboard, I was just saying my opinion. It just didn't seem like he was telling the truth, and sorry if I sounded offensive. Also making a thread about if I should be banned is a bit unfair, I think I also have the right to immedietly know about this thread instead of it being kept a secret from me. I had know idea that people felt that way about what I have been saying and I think it's only fair that I was notified with a private message or something because I NEVER make the same mistake twice.
And I sincerly apologise for my spamming and my thread about religion that I made, that thread was just a terrible idea of peoples beliefs and I am sorry for whatever damage it caused and I don't think that just because I said sorry that it makes it all okay. :fuzsad:

Joshy 02-19-2004 04:22 PM

Apology accepted :)

Esus 02-19-2004 09:41 PM

I don't particularly believe this thread was kept a secret from you. How would you like to have been notified that there was a thread about you? Through a phonecall? The thread is perfectly visible from the forum page...

Anyway, I shall stay neutral on this (arguement?)

Sitting on the fence of this does seem safe.

*Sits with Esus*

Anywho, I thought Lucipher's appology was well thought out and presented in a respectful manner. Felt genuine to me. I give it to thumbs up! Lucipher, you're going to Hollywood!

*still sits on fence*

Death is cool.
