Al the Vykker 01-30-2004 06:05 PM

Yeah I definately remember seeing that on ebay a few years ago. I probably should have bid on it then though.

Fez 01-30-2004 11:21 PM

Esus 01-31-2004 12:14 AM

http://www.oddworld.be/paginas/produ...ofiel=pbbl0043

So expensive.. T___T But positively AWESOME! I want I want I want! >_<!!!

Xavier 01-31-2004 10:01 PM

exactly the link that's in the buy list...
anyway I don't think it's realy well done, It doesn't look that good.

Cloverfield 02-01-2004 04:46 AM

Actually I own one of these statues ... got it for the bargain price of $25 US dollars. I've never seen them that low cost again.

Although that picture does not do them justice at all. It makes it appear overly shiny. I'd take a photo of mine, but it's right up on a shelf and I'm heading off to bed soon.

But I can add that these were not official merchandise. They were released by GT Interactive in Germany, but apparently Oddworld didn't grant the licence for them to be made. So I guess the distributor/publisher just went ahead and got them produced.

Sekto Springs 02-01-2004 05:14 AM

40 cm! That's about a foot high! I want that!
Once I magically conjure up 80 Euros, I will have that statue!

Yes, they should have had one of the OWI modelers make it. I think that OWI should use their clay maquettes as mold-plugs--you know, so they can make a mold to fill with plastic for an action figure. I'll E-mail Alf on this, run it by him. :D

EDIT: I'll take a peek around E-bay, Amazon, etc. and see if anybody has it for less money/different currency.

atusiya@ 02-01-2004 02:25 PM

It is not official?!?!
I had believed that this figure of 4 fingers's ABE (GT interactive.deu) was official .
Surely it is not better than what was made by Shiflett Brothers.
http://www.shiflettbrothers.com/prodabe.htm
Anyway there are many things we do not know still more be related with OWI .
And Xav ,Abebabe,AL.... help us. thank you..

atusiya's father...

paramiteabe 02-02-2004 04:15 AM

I am cerious there should be a Munch statue. There should be a maquette for every character and creature which I am sure there is at OWI. I am under the impression that those were made outside of OWI? They are indeed collector's items. I collect things and well I would love to have a whole set of these Oddworld maquettes in my room. Since my room is manly my art studio it would go great for my art studio.

Put up a huge shelf with a plexy glass cover and a lock and then just simply collect them and put them on display. OWI should officially really consider selling these things to fans. Like for Alf's Fan club. You could make a great profit off of them. Hell I would pay $100.00 to get my hands on those. heh there awesome.

Paramiteabe... :fuzblink:

Cloverfield 02-02-2004 04:37 AM

These are all of the production models that OWI have on display [at least the ones that we were allowed to take photos of]. Ah, actually my photos were taken by a normal camera, so I can't put them up. So I'll steal someone else's [one that was on the Microsoft site, and others from someone who I prefer not to name].

Imagine if they released statues of these? Not quite so large of course ... but a more smaller size. My largest FF statues are around 12" or so ... so I am guessing that would be a good size [although Abe is taller than that].

*is still waiting for merchandise*

I'd pay $100 easy. I paid $400 for my Sephiroth vs Cloud statue ... so I would definately pay that and more for Oddworld statues too.

Wil 02-02-2004 08:04 AM

While I admit the model is very good, it's a little too off-model for my liking, especially since it's not official. If I saw it on eBay or a car boot sale, I'd snap it up, but I'm not going to go out of my way for such a thing.

Now those actual OWI models or the Shiflett Studio proto-Abe - they rock, and very clearly so. Owning one of them would be a hundred times more flattering than getting an Abe's Exoddus Whoopie Cushion off eBay.

There wouldn't be any model of a Rat - they were modelled directly onto computers. *proudly spreads trivia knowledge about* :p

oddguy 02-02-2004 08:16 AM

Yeah, I would buy official OW maquettes any day. I wouldn't care how much it cost either. :fuzwink: Of course, any OW merchandise would make me happy. But, if OW really wanted to get into the maquette selling business, they should really go with sideshow weta. Not only do these guys make and sell official LOTR merch...they also have other stuff. Check out the site.

I really like the ratz... I'd want a model of one of them, if they every did exist...

I don't think I will buy this model... I've loked mroe and its a little too inaccurate and of course its not official, so I think I'll pass it up.

Al the Vykker 02-02-2004 11:51 AM

Wasnt there also a sculpture of Sam in one of the interview photos or something?

Cloverfield 02-03-2004 04:33 AM

I'm confused by this term "maquette" that Oddguy and paramiteabe use. Does this just mean statue or model or something? As I've never heard of that term in my life, and are just assuming. We just say statue, model or sculpture over here.

Actually, now you mention it ... *hunts image collecton*. There you go. You miss these things when you have such an extensive collection to go through. I think the picture comes from some Italian site.

ditto, though I think maquette means small statue.

Xavier 02-03-2004 05:33 AM

pretty good pictures over here... (allready seen before ;))

anyway, if I can trust my 6th sence, some merchandising must come a bit after OW4, if it is doing good ;)

Wil 02-03-2004 06:19 AM

ma·quette
n.
A usually small model of an intended work, such as a sculpture or piece of architecture.

No, I'd never heard of it until now.

Sekto Springs 02-03-2004 07:34 AM

Well, i guess you guys have never been in the sculpting business :p

Maquettes was always a favoured word of mine, it sounds overly french...surely Xav's heard it before.

EDIT: Sam has long ears that drape to the sides. look carefully, you can see her ear, it's around the area of the raisins bottom.

Xavier 02-03-2004 07:44 AM

I sure do... but it's more used for a little model you have to build yourself (with glue, plastic and such) :fuzwink:

Sekto Springs 02-03-2004 07:58 AM

like warhammer :p

Well, I guess PA and I are more into movies than you kids. Maquettes are usually used in the design process of a film. Let's say the design of a creature isn't final.....you make a bunch a mini sculptures(maquettes) and the Director would choose the one he likes. Sometimes the Director would like part of a design from one, and an attribute of another, so you take what Mr. Director guy says and make more maquettes until he picks a final design.
