Acting in movies where the acting is real!

In a lot of great movies there were memorible scenes that go into the history books where the acting was done accendental but it was shot perfectly because the acting was real. For instence the most memorable scene in sci fi horror ever. The Chest Burster in Alein when Lt Lambert was splattered in the face with blood. There was an interview that when they filmed that scene Ridly dident expect this but what you see on the screen is how she really felt at the moment. When the blood sprayed on her face that expression was no act she felt like that at the time and she wasnt acting. Can you think of any other instances where the acting was real?

In Lord of the Rings: the Two Towers...

Viggo Mortenson kicks the helmet and screams after thinking Merry and Pippin were dead. Well, as he kicked the helmet, he broke two of his toes. The scream was in pain, but he kept his cool and finished the scene. Amazing.

Going with LOTR, in the Fellowship of the Ring, when Gandalf is in Bagend he first bumps into the chandelier, that was planned but the next scene where he bumps his head on the low ceiling was completely on accident and they just kept it in there because it looked good and Ian Mckellen just kept acting as if that was just planned.

I'm telling ya, LOTR is amazing. What dedicated actors. One thing I would like to point out...In the Extended Edition of The Two Towers, Wormtongue spits on Aragorn's hand......Viggo's hand was spat upon. I don't know any other actor that would let someone spit on them. Usually, if a movie calls for spitting, it's egg whites or special effects.

Actually I think they tried to do that and maybe it was in one take, but the wind on top of that hill for the Edoras set was so windy that when Brad Dourif (wormtongue) tried to spit, it just flew backwards. It was on the Extended Edition of TTT Appendices if I remember correctly.

Though perhaps one of the takes did actually have it finally make it.

Yeah, I saw that documentary...I've wathced them all! Bwahahaha! Anyway, Brad Dourif said the wind was blowing so much that the spit flew in another direction opposite Viggo's hand. I was just stating that it was amazing that Viggo Mortenson was even willing to have someone spit on his hand. :fuzwink:

Oh ok my bad. I agree with you the dedication of the actors, especially Viggo when he chipped his tooth in the Helms deep night shoots, when he asked if anyone had Super glue so they could glue it back on for the shot. Although they wouldnt let him do that he went to the dentist and was back on set for shooting about two hours later. It just amazes me when I find out about all the things these actors endured and just took it all in.

i would imagine that Newt in aliens was quite scared. She was only about 8-9 years old, so i think she was half truly scared and half acting. Because if you think how real the aliens looked (none of this CGI crap) who wouldnt be scared?

In 'The Crow' were Brandon Lee [guy who plays the Gothic Crow guy] was shot, it was an actual bullet and that scene is of him actually been shot. He died.

Al the Vykker 01-18-2004 04:43 AM

Yeah I remember that happening, I think that was Bruce Lee's son.

Fez 01-18-2004 06:32 AM

i rember somthing about that. Didnt they make a CGI version of Lee for the rest of the film?
