Oddworld Forums: A Friendly Reminder
Hi everyone. After having browsed through the first page of topics, I thought I'd remind Oddworld Forums members of the rules and regulations we try to keep afloat.
Everyone here is great, but there is a small number of members who are breaking the rules, and continue to do so even after warnings from either myself or Abe Babe. It's important that we present an image of wholesome Oddworld discussion. We don't want valued people to visit the forums and see the countless pointless posts and be discouraged from contributing. But that's the way it's looking at the moment. We also don't want to have to ban people. We appreciate that we have non-English speaking members, but when posting here, please use only English. Pointless posts are becoming far too frequent among a small group of users. Unfortunately, this small group posts a great number and floods topics with mindless strings of text, creating confusion. A discussion board is not a chat room. Please keep things Oddworld, and ONLY post something if you have something to say. Do not post for the sake of posting. It should be quality over quantity. Maybe these people are doing it to up their post count; well there are no prizes for a high status. We're all equal here at the forums. Oddworld General Discussion is for Oddworld Discussion. Topics about the Xbox should be made in Off-Topic Discussion, unless your post discusses the Xbox with direct relation to the Oddworld games. "Clones" are not allowed. There has been a couple of people with multiple usernames pretending to be seperate people; this is deceptive and a waste of bandwidth. Please don't do it, we can check. Take a look at the rules. As I said, very few people are breaking the rules, so this only applies to them. For the most part, people at Oddworld Forums are wonderful and do a good job at making this community a great place for Oddworld Discussion.  Sydney. |

Bram, you are really annoying me and other poeple now. Please, no more nonsence stupid short posts like the ones you have been posting!! Only post if you really have something to say, or you will be banned. The same applies to Alector and The Blue Scrab.

Yes, thank you Sydney for posting this. I have been seeing a number of pointless and/or confusing posts lately, and it has really been bugging me. When you post, you should make sure it is something worth posting and make sure that it relates to the topic, not just post for the sake of posting. That's all I wanted to say.

I don't think some people are getting the point of Sydney's post. I myself posted a similar post a couple of weeks ago, but still the problems remain.
You only have to look at some of the responses in this post, and they are clearly against the rules of the forums. Responses like "ok ok" are just one of the things that we are referring to here. The other is idle chatter in posts. These are both considered as spamming of the forums and are against the rules. As Sydney said, we don't want to discourage people from posting or joining the forums. Keep the discussions as to the point as possible and don't post pointless responses. Basically if you don't have anything constructive to add to a post, then it's best to not post until you have a comment to add that is appropriate. Abe Babe... |

Yep this spamming is real anoying. But I think some people don´t give a fuck on all the warnings. (sorry for using bad words but I forgot to say it in a normal way)
I hate it. You go to a topic and half of the post are just nonsence posts. Bram is also annoying. Ok, I know how difficult it is if you don´t speak good English (...) I just cannot wait until the game comes out. Then, all this tension will be through as most (if not all) will concentrate on the game. I wonder who here will beat it first? Oh never mind about that, this is not the place to discuss it.

I think the reason why there's been so many crap posts recently is that there's really very little real news to discuss. We're past Gamestock and E3, with no new media likely to reach us before the game's release, and there's no news coming out except for monthly official site updates. People are getting quite restless and the forum, instead of a discussion area about the upcoming games, has become a chat room. People used to look to this forum for info and news about Oddworld, but since there really doesn't seem to be any coming in people are talking about whatever and it's getting quite irritating.
