"Absence makes the heart grow fonder" Vs "Out of sight, out of mind"

This is more aimed at long distance relationships.

Anyway both saying (Absence makes the heart grow fonder and Out of sight, out of mind) both describe the dilemma of a long distance relationship. Now which one do you think is the truer statement? Now it makes sense that if you were away from your love for an extended period of time that both of you would miss each other. But after how much time would the feelings stay there for? Because some would say that it's a kind of break up. And if you are apart for say a year or six months, would the feelings still be as strong as when two lovers could touch each others skin? See each other's faces? Were Physically Romantic with each other? After a year, would you just move on if the opportunity came along? So what do you guys think?

"Absence makes the heart grow fonder" Or "Out of sight, out of mind"???

Well, the more romantic choice would be Absence makes the heart grow fonder, but the more realistic one would be Out of sight, out of mind. As for me, I haven't had any serious relationships as of yet, but I would like to think that if the time would arise that I was seperated from my love, I would stay true to her.

I'd have to say Out of sight, out of mind if that ever happened to me... Maybe not though, who knows.

A good friend of mine had a long distance relationship going. But it ended when she accused him of cheating on her. He wasn't, and how she could even come to that conclusion surprises me, seeing as they live hundreds of kilometres apart. Everytime I mention her name (purely to bug the hell outta him) he takes a swing at me :p

Other than that. My opinions would really be not to get into a long distance relationship. I'd want to be near my partner for as long as I can. Whether or not they'd want to be near me, after I've talked them half to death, is a situation yet to be covered ;)

Hmmmm, i'd say 'Absence makes the Heart grow fonder'. Thats been the case with me anyway. Also 'Absinthe makes the Heart grow fonder' works too. 'Cos all ugly people suddenly become less ugly [i.e - blurred]
