The Big E-Mail Flood

We are complaining about not having any infos about the next game, why don't we do anything about it?

all we have to do is send e-mails to Game Sites and ask infos about the next game.

At least so we DO something

I made a little list:

Wave 1

IGN: http://www.ign.com/email.html
GameSpot: http://www.gamespot.com/misc/aboutus.html
GamerFeed: gf@gamerfeed.com
TeamXbox: http://www.teamxbox.com/article.php?id=61
XboxAddict: http://www.xboxaddict.com/contact/

Wave 2 (Xbox.com Community)

G4tv: http://www.g4tv.com/html/about.asp?a...ubarea=contact
XboxMayhem: http://www.xboxmayhem.com/content/staff.php
NLGaming: timothy.d.brown@nlgaming.com
XboxUsersGroup: http://www.xboxusersgroup.com/forums/contact.php
XboxLiveWire: http://www.xblw.com/staff.php
XboxGamers: http://www.xboxgamers.com/index.php?...page.php&id=70
GameSpy: http://www.gamespy.com/feedback/

I will upload the rest of the list later

Well as I said before in the other topic, I'll gladly help email these sites.

Also, what is it we should state specifically in these emails Xav?

oddguy 12-31-2003 10:43 PM

Sounds like a good idea ya came up with, Xav. Well, I took your advice and e-mailed those places. I just told 'em I was a huge OW fan and asked if they had any info to share about OW4. Anyway, I'm glad to be a part of your "e-mail flood" movement, Xav.:fuzwink:

Yay!

thank you very much guys! I've allready put Wave number 2 (simply browsing in the Xbox.com Community section :p)

keep on the good job!

If anyone has any e-mail adresses subjections, just post them here: I will post them in the list (with your name) :fuzwink:

Al, you have simply to ask any info about OW4 beacause you are an OddworldFan and you want to know more.

Esus 01-02-2004 11:09 AM

I disagree with this for various reasons but the main one being that I think it is up to the companies concerned to give us any information they want in good time. Spamming their inboxes is only likely (imo) to get refusals, insults, or guesses that anyone with half a mind could give.

Xavier 01-02-2004 06:58 PM

I don't think they will insult us... of cource you don't have to flood one box, you simply have to show thoses sites that OWI does have fans and that if they write about it will be read and much apreciated
We don't have anything to loose, only to win the fact that those sites write more about oddworld wich meens more infos for us

I'm with him on this one, flooding them isn't a way to get stuff.

I disagree with Esus and Hobo - the customer feedback is there for a reason, and our reason to use it is to remind these places that Oddworld is a game that many people are interested in. We don't usually get considered a lot, primarily because there's not a lot of us, and also because we tend to all clump together, eg the Forums.

If these places see that there are people expecting news on the next game, they'll be more persuaded to go and dig up some dirt - which really is what we want, isn't it? They obviously won't be rude to us, because they're companies, and the people who will be replying aren't allowed to get obnoxious.

Also, the term 'flood' is misleading. We'll only be sending one email each to each of the places. I wouldn't think twice about emailing a single of these places, and since they're not directly related, there's nothing wrong with doing the same to each of them. Since as far as they're concerned, all the these emails have come from separate sources (which is accurate), it's not flooding. It's simply a case of demand and supply. We demand (or more accurately ask for), they feel more compelled to supply.

Cloverfield 01-13-2004 06:59 AM

I only see one problem though ... it is very likely that these sites don't know anything more on Oddworld 4 than we do. If Oddworld themselves are not releasing any information ... then how can the sites report anything.

Of course it doesn't hurt to try ... reminds me of all these people that used to flood Square's email boxes asking for a remake of FFVII ... well not that bad. Those people were what you call real flooder's they would email every day. So the way that Xav is suggesting is more just a friendly email to ask them. So nothing wrong with that at all.

I just aren't sure what good it can do if they have no info ... that's all.

:D

Hi All!

I'm not around much, so I don't have much time to do all that E-ing and I am quite lazy, so sorry but I cannot participate. Good Luck!

Also, just a suggestion, but what about Game Revolution? Even though I don't read the magazine, I find it a good site.

Go hereGame Revolution

Ghost.

paramiteabe 01-14-2004 03:19 AM

I agree with Abe Babe on this one because if OWI isn't releasing much information then those companies won't know eather. They will know as much as we know. But on the other hand it never hurts to try.

Oddsville 01-14-2004 10:17 AM

It could actually work by having the same effect we have, kinda like a chain reaction. We e-mail all the sites constantly so they cave in and turn to OWI; OWI caves in and gives them info which eventually returns to us...conspiricy, you decide.....*cough*

Anyways, I'll be more than happy to e-mail some of the sites as long as we don't begin to force OWI to give us any info. Which in any case I doubt they'd be a week enough company to cave in so Im just contridicting myself..*runs off*

Majic 01-19-2004 04:55 AM

Is the game not still scheduled for April? If I recall, thats what the list PA found said, and thats what the IGN list said for X Box releases. I think we can wait:p

*waits for text to appear*

Wil 01-19-2004 06:37 AM

Alf came to the Forums and confirmed that there was no confirmed release date, and that until OWI told us themselves, anything we see is merely speculation and rumour. Curse those pesky games sites and mags.
