OK, This is the way it is... The rest of the Oddworld Quintology will be realesed as a Xbox exclucive... Their will be five heros in the Oddworld Quintology... The first two are Abe and Munch with the up coming third comfirmed to be Squeek... Each hero will have one game and one or more bonise games... Each hero is cumitive with each new hero having those before it in its games by their side... Those are the facts of the Oddworld. :D

Don't forget the Habitales series and the Fearitales series (althouth ther names may have been scrapped?). These two seires will involve the everyday life of an Oddworld Inhabitant and Im very sure there will be tons more seires after all this is done.

Xavier 01-14-2002 02:32 PM

Where did you read all the quintology came on Xbox?

I have a copy of the official contract and I didn't saw that

Al the Vykker 01-15-2002 07:01 PM

It is true Xbox has the rights to the rest of the quintology, And note Oddworld.com has been updated and says they under way starting the next Oddworld game, most likely Munch's Exoddus. :D

Kroenig the Glukkon 01-16-2002 09:34 AM

Someone may have already said this but oh well -- Hand of Odd will be a online RT war game on the PC.Its not part of the Quintology,it takes place before Abe was around (thank god, no abe and munch)

How do you get a copy of the official contract??? Wouldn't that only be something that Oddworld and Microsoft have access to. I wouldn't think anything like that would be released to the public. Come to think of it, most of the people that work at Oddworld wouldn't have access... as a company doesn't just show it's employees it's contracts.

For Release 3 a.m. PDT
Oct. 23, 2000
Microsoft Secures Exclusive Worldwide Rights
To Publish “Oddworld” Games for Xbox
Four Titles in Globally Lauded Action/Adventure Game Series to be Developed Exclusively
For Xbox Video Game Console
REDMOND, Wash. — Oct. 23, 2000 — Microsoft Corp. today announced that it has signed a deal with leading interactive entertainment publisher Infogrames Inc. to obtain the exclusive worldwide publishing and distribution rights to the best-selling “Oddworld” game series, created by Oddworld Inhabitants. Beginning with the much-anticipated game “Munch’s Oddysee,” Microsoft will exclusively publish the next four installments in the “Oddworld Quintology” for its Xbox video game console. Scheduled to launch in fall 2001, “Munch’s Oddysee” will be available only on Xbox.
“The opportunity to bring the full force of our publishing and marketing resources to bear on such a popular game series as ‘Oddworld’ is a major coup,” said Ed Fries, vice president of games publishing at Microsoft. “This maps perfectly to our longstanding strategy of working with the world’s best game designers to create experiences that will excite the imaginations of gamers everywhere.”
Since its debut, the “Oddworld” game series has become one of the most globally popular game franchises of all time, with more than 4 million copies worldwide, garnering more than 100 industry awards and gracing the cover of more than 35 magazines. The two previously released chapters, “Abe’s Oddysee” and “Abe’s Exoddus,” have been heralded as revolutionary for their mix of brilliant graphical artistry, unique personality and compelling gameplay. The upcoming “Munch’s Oddysee” continues the inventive spirit.
According to Lorne Lanning, president and co-founder of Oddworld Inhabitants, the choice of the Xbox platform was an easy one. “Our goal with ‘Munch’s Oddysee’ and future installments in the ‘Quintology’ has always been to create an immersive experience that pushes the boundaries of reality. Only Xbox gives us the graphical muscle and intense digital sound to unleash our creative juices and allow us to bring the imaginary world and rich characters of Oddworld to life.”
The popular “Oddworld” series was originally published by Infogrames. According to Yves Blehaut, senior vice president of Infogrames Inc., allowing Microsoft to exclusively publish the next titles in the “Oddworld” series will further strengthen its worldwide popularity. “The ‘Oddworld’ franchise lends itself to cutting-edge technology such as that provided by the Xbox system. We feel Microsoft’s marketing plans for the Xbox launch coupled with its first-party publishing support will provide tremendous value for ‘Munch’s Oddysee’,” Blehaut said.
Oddworld Inhabitants joins an impressive list of development studios — including Lionhead Satellites and Stormfront Studios — that will create exclusive Xbox content under the Microsoft label. “Teaming up with Microsoft also gives the opportunity to combine the talents of two great companies,” Lanning said. “We were impressed with Microsoft’s marketing and distribution muscle, but what really won us over was its commitment to and vision for producing the best games.”
Today’s announcement is the latest in a series of momentum-building events solidifying industry support for Xbox. More than 150 of the world’s best game companies recently pledged their support for the platform because its future-generation technology will allow them to realize their creative visions for games.

I don't think that's the contract. I didn't read the whole thing but it didn't sound like a contract to me.

Cloverfield 01-17-2002 02:12 AM

Ah, that's a press release. :) Which is just like an announcement that is made whenever a deal or new product is released. I've had a copy of that up on my site since the Xbox exclusive was announced.

Yachiro 02-07-2002 09:00 PM

Here's Yach for you.

I was reading this topic and had some pretty interesting ideas. So,I'll go straight to the point and say my ideas.First, what's this ME everyone's talking about?Munch's exodus? You'd think they'd be a little more creative than making a new title like that.Maybe they'll just let Munch be himself and raise his little baby Gabbit eggs.Or,they'll make a game in which he needs to rescue them from being captured AGAIN..although the Industrialists on Oddworld don't seem to go that far unless it is for ALOT of moolah.Secondly, after that ppl have been speaking of this "squeek" character.I believe he will appear too,and that it in fact WILL be titled "Squeek's oddysee",because Munch and Abe's games were those titles, basically.Who knows?Only time will tell.

Okay, I'm new here, so if someone will help recap for me.
First was Abe's Oddysee and Abe's Exoddus, the only two abe alone games, for PSX
Now we have Munch's Oddysee and the recently confirmed(?)Munch's Exoddus, with Abe and Munch, for the Xbox
Coming soon will be, I presume it will be called, Squeek's Oddysse, and perhaps Squeek's Exoddus, which will feature Abe, Munch, and Squeek together, most likely on Xbox
After this point, there are two more heroes to be introduced, and by the final installment we will have five playable characters in an oddworld game. Can anyone say "kill me now, this puzzle is impossible"?
Plus, on top of all this loveliness, there will be several additional games that are not mathematically fitting parts of the paradigm, including, from what I've heard, Hand of Odd and Sligstorm.
Is this correct, or do I have the brain of a Fleech?

Yachiro 02-07-2002 11:54 PM

Yeah, you pretty much got the Gist of it,Meech. Also,I gots a question of my own..

Exactly where does it say that a new char is coming?Sure I saw that they're making a new game..but how did anyone find out about this "squeek" ?

Dequibenzo 02-08-2002 01:12 AM

Back of the AO booklet, and I quote-

"Future games of the 'Quintology' will introduce new dilemmas, new villains, and most importantly new and unlikely heroes like Abe"

Notice the "most importantly" part. I know, I know, it isn't concrete evidence, but with as far planned out and organized as this whole thing seems to be, as simple a plan as the whole "New installment, new character" scheme would make perfect sense to me. Plus, it's been my experience that really creative people, especially ones who are also voice actors like Lanning and crew, love to introduce new characters.
