A Few Tough Questions!

If every human creature knewed what was going to happen in the future, would we prevent war or let it happen?

Two britons enter a bar, the other one knows what is going to happen in the next hour, but doesn't remeber anything(A), and the other remembers everything(B), whould they have a nice conversation?? And whould A let B remind A about the past, if A knew that B was going to do it, and if A knew that he has forgotten the past? Do you understand??

What would you do with Briton A's power?
What would you do with Briton B's power?
(I have taken britons as examples)

whats a Briton?

Loup Garou 12-26-2003 04:32 PM

British guys...those guys in U.K.

oddguy 12-27-2003 03:11 AM

Person A knows what's going to happen in the next hour, but doesn't remember anything...right?

Person B remembers everything...correct? If so, you only said one knows what is going to happen.

So, I would rather remember everything, than know one hour into the future and forget it all the time.

Strange thread.

well....*takes deep breath*

my theories are based on the conversation they would have.
if the one who didn't know everything had a conversation with the one who knows everything the mood of the conversation (if at all) depends. If the one who didn't know everything didn't know he the other knew everything, then he probly wouldn't ask. But the one who knows everything may say a fair warning to the other and the other would probly be glad, and would mention he knew something would happen, thus the conversation could be pleasant. but, if he didn't say anything to the other guy, then the war would ensue, and there probly wouldn't be conversation at all, but if during the war he said he knew everything the other would probly be mad and the conversation would be a quite negative (that is if either of them were alive). But Then theis the possibility of the one who doesn't know everything speaking first which also effects a conversation they could or would have; the other one would mostly likely say "i know", but the way he responds (if at all) could also effect the conversation. But that doesn't matter. If neither of them spoke then the war would ensue and they would probly both die, But i see them being could people and trying to prevent anyone from dying so it could happen a few ways. The one who knows everything may not know the other one knew something, but knew he would say something, thus he asks "what are you going to say" and the way he answers could also effect the conversation, but the one who knows everything not knowing something is unlikely because he knows everything. So i conclude that the conversation has many ways of changing and can greatly effect what happens to either of them if the war starts or not.

*collapses and gasps for breath*

Briton aint a real word. You use "Brits" in that sence.

Wil 12-27-2003 04:25 PM

Briton is a real word. It means a person from Britain. "Brit" is only a slang word meaning the same, unless you're talking about baby herring, in which case it is an accurate term.

On topic, I couldn't wrap my head around what you're trying to say/ask. Are you saying person A knows that person B will explain what has happened in the past? And that being so, can he prevent it from happening?

Well, if person A does know what person B will tell him, then he already knows the past. However, as soon as person B does tell person A, it becomes the past, and person A can't remember it. Therefore he should postpone it indefinitely.

Unless I misunderstood, which isn't totally impossible - I had an entire half a glass of wine two days ago, I'm more drunk now than I've ever been.

my God! i dont even know my own language!

My God, I can't even remember what I was trying to say, but it's something like:

A - knows what is going to happen in the next hour, be forgets things VERY easily.
B - Remembers everything from the past, but like regular people, he don't know what's going to happen in the future.

But Max the Mug, you caught me, you're right. If A knows that B will remind him of the past, then A has a memory. And his memory isn't the greatest...

Sligslinger, you have an interesting theory, but....I get lost somewhere in the war thing...! a tip, try to breethe in a sentence, you won't faint and you will be happy about it!

Oddguy, isn't this ODDworld?? strange threads is good...like...eating strange mushrooms under the stairs and see cute, funny-colored pigeons...

i thought no-one would answer this at all...interesting!

Loup...I just meant it was a bit confusing, but I like mind puzzles, so I wasn't saying I don't like your thread. If that was so, I wouldn't have posted in it.:fuzwink: Anyway, did you make up this brainteaser yourself?

Here's another one. very easy.

A women decided one day to buy a parrot to keep her company. But she wanted one that talked. "Does this parrot speak?" she asked the pet store clerk. "This parrot," said the clerk, "repeats absolutely every word he hears." This convinced the woman to buy the bird. Time went buy and after months of tryng to get her new bird to speak, she never heard a word out of him. What was the problem?

Wil 12-29-2003 05:22 PM

The parrot is deaf. :p

First thing that came into my mind. If it's not repeating, it's not hearing.

Loup Garou 12-29-2003 06:23 PM

Oddguy...I didn't accuse you. And yes, this was my own brainteaser, but I thought about it one night when I couldn't sleep. And then, the britons and the bar appeared inside this...peanutssized brain.

The clerk lied!

oddguy 12-30-2003 01:23 AM

I knew you guys would figure that one out real easy!:p Maybe this one will be a bit more challenging.

How can you build a house that has a window in all four walls but every window faces south?

-oddguy:D

Hobo 12-30-2003 07:24 AM

You build it on the north pole.

Wil 12-30-2003 12:44 PM

Or you build it on the South Pole and say that it's inside out.
