Avatar Selection Page Problems...

Well I just noticed that for some reason over half the avatars are not working anymore. This may be temporary, but the ones that arent working are now replacing themselves with images from the forum posts, etc.

Ill post some more screen captures after some more people respond.

That's a lot of avatars on one page :o

I could have sworn there was an option in the Admin Control Panel to limit the number of avatars per page. But now that I think about it, I think that's something in vB3.

Checking the actual page myself, there was no problem. They loaded fine.

I believe that page is the Avatar page you see if you go through the FAQs page or something. It has this big list of all the avatars on one page. I remember I tried to format it through the templates once, but it didn't work, so I gave up on it.

Heres the other problem I noticed about the replacing avatars.

LOL!

We had it reported many times, and unfortunately it is something we can't fix. Or know how to fix.

I guess I can only laugh.

I don't actually use this server for Advent Children.net anymore ... I went and purchased hosting for it, as I couldn't install forums on here. But some images are still around.

It's a server error, that has to be put up with

I don't have any of these problems. I'm perfect.

Al the Vykker 12-18-2003 05:07 PM

It seems that the problem has stopped for now atleast.

It periodically occurs. So you're in the clear for a while :)

All others, I guess you'll just have to wait until it stops. Sorry, but not only do we not have a clue how to fix it, but we haven't an idea what's actually making it act funny.

Well, all I know is it can provide quite a chuckle after the anger the "error" page can give when it eats your posts.:fuzwink:

Quite ironically, I just received a stray image as one of the post icons after I just clicked reply just now.

Anyways ... Peter, do you think it would hurt if we posted a message on the vBulletin support forums. Although it's likely more a server issue as I had the error once on Oddworld-Web, maybe someone there has heard of some reason why it occurs and could provide a solution ... or at least an explanation.

It wouldn't hurt, but I'd be turned away. Like I was a few weeks ago when I asked for some MySQL help. As I'm not a supported member.

Have you got back into vBulletin?

Actually, I amazingly managed to get back on just after I posted that post. Looks like they finally got all the server/DNS issues fixed up over there. So I'll post a topic later on tonight and see if anyone can give an opinion.

I thought you were able to get support because I put your email down under my licence, or did that change?

Anyways, I also got vb 2.3.3, so I'm going to install that tonight for the hell of it. And maybe after Christmas we might be able to consider upgrading to vb3 seeing I can download it now.

Nah, it only has me supported at vBulletin.org. As the supported thing is split in three, for vB.com, vB.org, and vBT.com. Plus, my name is different on each, and each use a different email address :p

Yippee! I see vB 2.3.3 :D
