Movie Mistakes
 

This is my new thread and this time it's not about any religion or about sending god to hell it's about the wrongs in a film that you have found, for in every movie there is a point when the actors or director miss a point and a cockup is created, so the point of this thread is to post misakes so small only a nerd would see them.

In BLADE 2 the vampires used to have to be hit in the head or the heart to kill them even with silver, But when blade was trying to rescue whistler, the vamps seemed to be killed wherever he stabbed them, one vamp was clearly stabbed in the groin and it had the desired effect.

I thought you hit them with any part of silver and they die?

Well anyways, there's this medieval war movie or something, while they're in this big green field battling and crap you see a bus go thru the background.

In the film gladiator, in the first war scene in germania, you see people in jeans on the set.

A groinal hit with silver would kill them I would think. I know the arms and stuff don't, but that's a pretty important place.

Apparantly in Ben Hurr a red car can be seen far off down the street.

terminator:

the terminator sees in in red vision, so why the hell did he buy a gun with a RED laser and sight?

in the police station scene he uses to guns, a Frenchi Spas 12 guage sgot gun, and an AR-18. During the beginning of the scene, he fires the shotgun, and it sounds just like the AR-18, he then fires the AR-18 and it sounds just like the shotgun.

terminator 2:
STUPID SWAT PART ONE
the terminator walks down that hall twards the SWAT, they shoot at him, now after about, 200 rounds, and he still isnt down, why the hell dont they just run away? and when he starts shooting them in the legs, they dont run. why?

STUPID SWAT PART TWO
the terminator goes the SWAT van, he takes the keys which are in the sun screen, and starts driving it. Why the hell would the SWAT leave the keys IN a car full of ammo, automatic weapons and body armour!?

Matrix Trilogy: Apart from loads of others, this one irritates me:

In the first film Morpheous claims he has seen the human harvesting grounds with his own eyes. Yet in Number 3 one of the generic Human Survivors says that no-ones been in miles of the surface......

STAR WARS: The Empire Strikes Back

This is the part of the film when the AT-AT walker collapses. If you watch the back left leg of the AT-AT's model carefully, you can see that it was pushed by a stick (broom, maybe).

This is the part of the film when Leia, Lando, Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2 is trying to save Han Solo. Well, Wookiees don't wear shoes originally... :D

And lightsabers don't have shadows either...

They don't? I didn't know that. I'm sure that a shadow would have appeared in other scenes.

That could be anything. How do you know it is pushing? It could be a loose part of the AT-AT. It could be anything.

Things that create light dont have shadows, Alcar.

It wouldn't create shadow, no. But wouldn't the presence of something in the way of another light (lightbulbs in this case :p) create the dark area beneath the saber which we call shadow?

The light saber is still taking up space.

Well, look at those legs. The other legs are like sticked to the floor. But that one back there IS pushed by a stick or something. I saw the film many times and I always noticed that before the fall, the back left leg always goes up.
And the lightsaber. Well, they just didn't make the shadow disappear, they forgot to do it. That's why you can't see the shadow in other scenes.

I know, writing that last reply took ages because I thought of that, but it being that far away from the ground, it would have light hitting the ground from it, I imagine.

Signs: aliens, that can travel through the the universe, can't go past a wooden door. They are destroyed by water, so they decided to come nearly completely water- covered planet.:D

Hopefully, they'll erase it in the ROTJ DVD.

Personally, I don't like knowing too many movie mistakes becuase then the film experience seems less real. Like LOTR for instance...I want Middle-Earth to exist! :crying:

That really annoyed me too when I was watching it. But it's still a good movie, and it was well thought out in other places.

Because they're being shot in the legs, silly. I would like to see you run away when you're being shot in the legs. :D

there was about 12-14 SWAT there, he shot them one after the other. The other swat should have just legged it after the first two got shot.

When the Fellowship of the Ring was shown in theatres originally, in the scene where Sam and Frodo are in the Cornfield by the scarecrow, a car is visible in the far background. It was removed for the home video release, and Extended Edition.

Theres a bunch more funny ones like that for LOTR. But I have to agree with Oddguy I dont like to know too much for films such as LOTR, because you wish that they could be real. :fuzsmile:

Yes, I know movies arent real. But sometimes you like the cinematic experience to seem like it could happen, even though it cant. Same goes with certain stories.:fuzsmile:

Yes, but people are correcting movies, when movies arn't meant to be life-like.

Movies are entertaining when you're connected to the charactaers and engrosed in the plot. This lessens when you're picking out movie mistakes and pointing out every fault. After that the characters don't seem like characters anymore...they just become actors who are getting paid. It destroys the movie experience. I agree with Al.

Thats right oddguy I shoudn't really tell lots of mistakes, but who cares? This thread was all part of a diabolical scheme to get more posts! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA....I'ts not that funny really, oh well.

1 Star Wars: When the stormtroopers break into the control room, watch very carefully and you will be able to see a storm trooper nearly render himself unconscious by smacking his head off a door frame.
2 Commando One of the most blatant mistakes ever committed to film. The yellow Porsche is totally wrecked on the left side, until Arnie drives it away, and it's fine.
3 The Rocky Horror Picture Show: The criminologist describes the events of the movie as taking place "on a late November evening". In the very next scene, Brad and Janet are driving in Brad's car, and Nixon's resignation speech is playing on the radio. Nixon resigned in August of 1974.
4 Harry Potter and the Sorceres Stone: When Harry, Ron and Hermione rush to Hagrid after end-of-the-year exams, and Harry is saying something that ends with "why didn't I see it before", Hermione is mouthing his lines.
5 Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines One of the most blatant mistakes ever seen onscreen - in the scene where John & Catherine are in the hangar at the runway, the Cessna's tail number is N3035C. When the plane is shown in the air, the number is N9373F. When they land, the tail number has changed back to N3035C.
6 Gladiator After the battle with the Germans, the next morning after the tavern, he is walking in the army camp and he feeds a horse a piece of apple. If you look closely between Maximus and the horse, there is a crewman wearing a pair of blue jeans.
7 Charlie's Angels: When the angels are fighting the "creepy thin man," right before Drew Barrymore lifts up Lucy Liu to spin her around and kick the thin man, to get Lucy's attention, Drew hollers out "Lucy!" even though Lucy Liu's character's name is "Alex."
8 Spider-Man: In the scene where Mary Jane is being mugged by four men, Spider-Man throws two of the men into two windows behind Mary Jane. Then the camera goes back to Spider-Man beating up the other two guys. When the camera goes back to Mary Jane the two windows are intact.
9 The Matrix: In the scene where Agent Smith is interrogating Neo, after Smith has sealed Neo's mouth shut and he is backed into the corner, when the camera cuts back to Smith you can clearly see a reflection in his glasses of Neo still sitting down in the chair.
10 Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets: At the beginning of the scene near the end of the movie with Lucius Malfoy fuming at Dumbledore in his office, Malfoy's hair is fanned back behind his shoulders. The lighting in the room illuminates the back of his neck, where you can see his real, short brown hair.
11 Black Hawk Down: Near the end of the movie when the convoy is heading back to the Pakistan Stadium, a Humvee stops briefly to allow a man to walk across the street with a child in his arms. When the shot changes and the Humvee begins driving again, a crew member or cameraman is seen inside the Humvee wearing a white shirt. All of the men who entered the Humvee were wearing fatigues.
12 Pearl Harbor: When Evelyn first enters Pearl Harbor, there is a tall building that clearly says, "Est. 1953." Obviously this is a little ahead of the times.
13 American Pie: In the bedroom scene the girl is holding a clear cup full of beer. The camera goes off her and when it comes back she is holding a blue cup. The camera goes back off her then on her and the cup is clear again.
14 The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers: Merry and Pippin were bound when taken by the Uruk-hai, and the bonds weren't cut until after they managed to escape during the fight. Yet, when the horse almost crashed down on Pippin, he had his arms spread out up near his face, not bound, even though they weren't cut until later. In the next shot, his hands are bound again.
15 Austin Powers in Goldmember: Austin Powers left school in 1959. He would have been 18 then. This means that the family holiday in Belgium, when he was a baby, would have been in 1941. Continental Europe would have been an odd choice for a family holiday that year, what with World War II going on and everything. Note: Lots of people seem to think that in England school leaving age is 16. It can be, but most stay on until 18, especially at a smart private school like Austin's.
16 Titanic: The lake that Jack told Rose he went ice fishing on when she was threatening to jump is a man-made lake in Wisconsin near Chippewa Falls (where Jack grew up). The lake was only filled with water in 1917, 5 years after Titanic sank.
17 Chicago: When Roxie is about to fire Billy, there is a close-up of her telling him off, and you can see some loose blonde hairs falling out of her hairstyle. In the next close-up they are gone, and in the next one they're back again.
18 X-Men 2: In the end, when the President is visited by the X-Men, he receives a blue binder, which is laid in front of him on the table. When they have left, you see a shot including the President's desk, and you can see that the only thing he has on the table are some sheets of paper, stapled in the upper left corner, opened up. Then the shot changes to a close-up of the President, and then back again, and you see the blue binder in front of him, closed, and the papers have disappeared.
19 The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King: In the second half of the film, Frodo has a scar on his lower right cheek, close to his chin. Many times throughout the rest of the film the scar changes position and size on his cheek and also from his right cheek to his left cheek (most obviously on the slopes of Mount Doom when Sam is cradling his head).
20 The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring: In the scene where Sam and Frodo are in the field with the scarecrow, you can plainly see a car cruising past in the distance, from right to left. Further comment - there are two different shots which show the car moving from right to left. One starts at the top right distance, and in a shot a few seconds later the car has travelled down the road a bit and is more easily visible. Complicating matters is that the dust thrown up by the car looks similar to smoke from a chimney in the right distance, making some people think it is just the chimney. But chimneys don't move, and the smoke from the chimney is separate from the moving vehicle. [It is deleted on the DVD, but you can still see an obvious bit of image fakery on the hill just left of the smoking chimney. One can see the hill, tree, and surrounding area move up and down and shimmer slightly where someone has done a cut and paste to cover up the auto. The "car inclusive" scene appears on the National Geographic documentary Beyond the Movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. Also, watch the music documentary on the extended dvd - when it shows this scene the car is still in it. Bizarrely, in his commentary Peter Jackson said he never saw a car and doesn't know what people are talking about, but the production/post-production team say in their commentary that despite not thinking anyone would be able to see it, they took it out anyway.]

Don't talk about the faults of LOTR movies! I love them! And accidents happen, DAMMIT! Oddguy is right, I didn't need to know that!!! :crying:

Oh well, like I said earlier when I posted the LOTR mistakes, it doesnt make me think of the films any less. I actually found it cool because I never even noticed that in Fellowship in theatres. :)

I noticed some mistakes in the LOTR films but in the third one I just stared at the screen and thought,this is the best movie I ever did see. :fuzgrin:

I read that there was a mistake in ROTK with Frodo's wound. At times the same wound was in a different spot on his face or something like that. Also in the movie Alien in the scene where Bret is looking for Jones the cat and he stumbles into that chamber where chains are hanging down. You know before he was slained by the Alien anyway in the directors cut they showed the Alien above him and it look like a hunk of plastic hanging on a bunch of wires swinging back and forth which it probabally was knowing at the time thats how they certain things and still fo nowadays. But I agree with Al you get connected to movies that are really good and you want to think its perfect.

But ya know those mistakes you see in film are normal and very very minor almost un noticable. You have to realise that makeing a movie is harder than you think it is. Film Makers the crew the cast everybody involved in the movie spends an entire year doing stuff that can be very teadious, your bound to run into a stupid mistake once and a while even on the best grossing films. There is a lot of stuff that go into makeing a movie from stage lighting to the minitures and the building of the sets and so on and so forth.

Think about it when a director is filming a scene he spend hours or days on one scene because eather the actors are doing something wrong or there can be something wrong in the lighting or the camera angle and so forth and so on. Its tedious work. Thats why they say cut when they notice it. But I believe 99.9% of the time when the scene is shot to specification in which the derector wants, there will still be a small qoute on qoute "OOPS!" in the production crew. But it would be so minor that it would be un noticable. It happens we arent perfect so your going to have those little things happen now and then. But nobody really notices it until someone really takes the time and tries to find those mistakes. All and all its typical in Film. :sleepy:
