Positive things about MO.

We've all explained reasons why we didn't like MO, but in the end we all still played the game and had a fun time I'm sure.:fuzwink: This is the thread where you guys can say positive things that you liked about MO.

i enjoyed watching the fmvs (except for the cartoony bits) aswell as playing some of the levels, i also enjoyed the new characters.

Xavier 12-07-2003 02:07 PM

I did enjoy playing the game, honestly...
and the FMWs where nice to watch
to play Oddworld in 3D was realy great

Al the Vykker 12-07-2003 02:23 PM

I really liked the easier Gamespeak options, the FMVs, the new characters, and creatures, a ot of the levels, and especially playing Oddworld in 3d finally. The different levels of Quarma.(I got perfect first time through)

I wish there would have been a code or an option to replay certain levels again though.

Xavier 12-07-2003 02:29 PM

true... the easier GameSpeak options were great!
and the alternative sentences sythem was a nice idee too

Esus 12-07-2003 03:51 PM

I enjoyed playing the game, it was good fun. I really enjoyed watching the fmv's minus the really cartoony bits... It was a fun game, it may not have been as good as the AO and AE, but I still enjoyed playing it and watching the story develop.

Here's what I did. Every time I started a level, I saved it as a new game. I did this with all the levels, so I can easily access each one when I want.

I liked the new gamespeak.
I liked the FMV's.
I liked the Music and Sound.
Of course I liked playing ODD in 3-D.
I liked the vendos.
The list goes on and on.

Thank you so much, Oddguy. We've needed a thread like this for a long time. All we do is gripe and moan about MO, while never pointing out the good points. Job well done, Oddguy. I salute you.

I liked the more casual gamespeak (ie "Hey, what's happenin'", "Hey Abe!" instead of "hello", "hello"), the gorgeous FMVs, the new gameplay like a "revolution" with your mini army, and a whole lot more.

oddguy 12-07-2003 06:29 PM

Thanks Mac. I just felt kind of bad when reading how upset Lorne was in the recent interview, so I thought I'd start a positive thread about MO. I mean, we all had fun playing the game. I still play it sometimes. It's a good game and it got loads of awards. We shouldn't be so hard to please. I really got tired of the moanin' and groanin' as well. It's better to have MO, rather than not, right?

I agree with you on some of your points you made. I personally really liked MO. I had some complaints as other people but this is typical for almost any game.

However, I disagree that we shouldnt be so hard to please. I think we should be hard to please because that pushes OWI to make their games better and better. That way they can see what we want in the OW games, and what we like, while also trying to learn from their previous mistakes. If we all didnt care how games turned out in the end, we'd be stuck with games such as E.T. The Extra Terrestrial.

One of the other reasons OW's games have been good is because they are trying to please their fans while still trying to come up with new things and new features for their games.

This is why I hope I'm right in saying I believe OW4 will be really good. They are working very hard to bring us something new and keeping it secret so we will be happy because we dont really know anything about it, so if they were to change things like in MO, we wont be disappointed because we would have never known they would have been included.

In the end, if we are harder to please, the end is result is happy for both OWI and the Fans.

oddguy 12-07-2003 10:03 PM

I actually agree with you. Good point. I never thought of it like that, but one of the reasons OWI is keeping OW4 so secret is because they want to make us happy.

-oddguy:fuzcool:

Exactly, I dont mind the secrecy for that reason. But I do wish we had a few screens. They wouldnt have to reveal much, just something to further hold us impatient fans over.:fuzwink:

Alcar 12-08-2003 03:39 AM

Think of it this way, with AO we had nothing to go off. With AE we had a few screenshots. I'm sure as the year progresses, and the nexy year progresses we'll be given a few timid hints and screenshots :)

Now, onto the topic. In MO I loved the FMV's! Especially the opening ones. I don't know why, but I just fell in love with the Meep as well.

Alcar...

Xavier 12-08-2003 01:19 PM

ture, the opening FMV was... can't find words, just: "wow, I love it"
and know I think about it, the sphere possesion was a good alternative to the 2D possesion

paramiteabe 12-08-2003 02:38 PM

I loved wheeling Munch around in his squeaky wheel chair. and playing Oddworld in 3D was cool and its only going to get better.

I love getting shot out of the wells in Munch. Those wells are fun and funny espeically when Munch gets shot out of a well.

My opinion on Munch was that it was really fun and an enjoyable game. We need this because it really is true that our complaints have just gone on and on. so cheers to Oddguy for putting this thread up.:D

Esus 12-08-2003 04:10 PM

I also very much liked the new characters, especially Munch and the Vykkers. the vykkers were my favourite to possess and control.

dripik 12-08-2003 05:05 PM

I still haven't got MO, but it is possible that I will get it this Sunday. :D :D :D I will be happy, that's sure. I'll come here and tell my experience about the game (if I can stop playing :D ).

Well goodluck my friend, and I hope you enjoy the game as much as I did. Hopefully you didnt read too many spoilers about the game to ruin too much for your first time through though.:fuzwink:

Alcar 12-09-2003 10:32 AM

Another thing I enjoyed about Munch's Oddysee was the less linear approach to gamespeak. Where a range of different phrases were spoken when you pressed a gamespeak command.

dripik 12-09-2003 01:09 PM

Well, I already know a few things about the game, but it's not clear yet. I will understand the story while I'm playing the game. But I know one thing: it'll be fun!

oddguy 12-09-2003 08:49 PM

You'll have a great time playing it!:D Make sure to come back to the forums and tell us what ya think.

Im glad to here you are excited. Remember if you notice things that may be missing from what you originally heard or saw that was supposed to appear in the game. Dont worry, hopefully OWI will be including some of the long "lost" features in maybe ME or future Quintology games, etc.:fuzwink:

Or maybe in Stranger like maybe we will see meetles and Mugs along with the new things. I do remember seeing elements from Munch the early in the new game on the X-Factor. For instance the scene where Stranger is rowing up the river pass that Mudokon village where the Muds are fishing. If you notice in the background there is a huge Mudokon tower as the camera pans off into the field as Stranger rows by. We also have snoozers which could mean elements from Munch could come back in this next game. Like some of the wild life that we missed.

GrigtheSlig 12-12-2003 08:58 PM

Ummm, Munch is cute! Is that good?

Al the Vykker 12-13-2003 01:01 AM

Good Point PA. I just was thinking about that now because the actual full slig army (Originally there was that type of Slig Army, but was turned into a propaganda film for sligs in Splinterz) marching on with Snoozers, torches etc., was shown in the X-Factor video. This might show that some other unincorporated elements of MO's gameplay may be in OW4!

Alcar 12-13-2003 03:04 AM

Maybe we will finally get to see an Intern ShockRocker! :p Though I doubt it, and I wish OWI would confirm that there are no secrets left in the game with some secret Intern ShockRocker hiding.

Yes I understand that the status boards wouldn't count the extra Intern, obviously because it's a secret. Though then maybe you have to upgrade the Intern with a hidden vendo.

Bah - I'll email Dear Alf :p

Now there's an idea I like. There are mountains in the game, and since the Northern region of Mudos is said to be mountainous, I think we're gathering a geographic awareness of where the game will take place. Kintos live in the Northern Mountain, so maybe we'll see them. Elderlings (the Raisin at least) originate in the same region, which ties in to PA's boat topic. There's plenty of water for sure, so maybe we'll be getting glimpses of Mudflubs, Stangs and Sea Rexes.

And you know, I've never seen a Western that didn't include horses - Elums anyone?

You've got me all excited, now.

Xavier 12-13-2003 07:09 AM

Max, that goes against you "totaly new cast" theory...
but I have to admit it just sounds sweeeet :fuzwink:

Wil 12-13-2003 07:23 AM

It does indeed, but it's only a theory, not a belief. Besides, since we haven't actually seen Stangs or Kintos in the games, they would still technically be new cast members. ;)
