Yes, Hugo Weaving is most definately Austrailian. I remembered it from the extended version of FOTR, on the bonus features it mentioned austrailian actor, H.W. etc.

Don't make such sweeping statements, to you they sound alike, to me they sound like no one would ever confuse them.
