What's happening with the...

Optional swear filter? (Didn't the title just make you want to read the thread?)
Alcar said it was possible, and I want to swear without having to do the sneaky stuff to get past the filter. I bet Alcar is just too lazy. I wish we had a cool super mod. *Sigh*
:p

I never knew it was actually going to happen. In my opinion swearing shouldn't be allowed at all. It's turned the forum into a cesspit.

I mean, I don't really want to censor them on here ... it's kind of seen as being a little too strict, if that's the right word for it. I would like to think that people are sensible enough to use them at the right times. As long as they are not over-used or are not flaming someone/used offensively, then I don't see a problem with someone using one occasionally, and if appropriate.

I actually saw some forum once that had a user swear option. You could opt to censor swear words or not as part of your user CP. I wonder if it's going to be a vBulletin 3 thing.

And like Fax, I always wondered why swear words were deemed as such ... who decided it was an offensive word and who didn't. Because for each swear word, there is a word that means the same thing basically, but it's not a swear word.

I've just joined another forum that has the option per user to use the censor. I think it's great, as anyone who wishes to not see such things can switch it off.

I had mine set to swear, by the way

It's not a vBulletin 3 thingy, though. But it'd be very simple to add.

See? I aren't faking this one!

I've always been against it when used against other members, and when it is unneccessary. Honestly, comparing the old forums when swearing was extremely minimal - they weren't as bad as it is now.

If people need to swear in order to harm others, in fact, if a person needs to verbally abuse others it shows how weak they are. I won't go into examples, are there are so many it's not funny.

Aww... Okay.
But still, what about the difference in attitude?

I'm pissed at the attitudes of the members.

I think I will shoot this, to make it die as soon as I can. I don't like seeing Alcar so angy.
