What do they mean

When I read the paragraph on the oddworld Quintology in the manule for MO they said that some of the creatures we take for granted now may be very important in the big picture. I have thaught it through and through and I dunno wat they could mean by that. Which creatures do you think they are talking about and why?

Xavier 12-03-2003 06:05 PM

well there are multiples theories about that, but no "good" answer has been found yet...

When asked if Fleeches and Slurgs were to appear in Munch's Oddysee, Paul O'Connor replied:

"Fleeches will be there for sure. Not certain about Slurgs. We have to see how they "read" in a 3D environment (because of their size they might get lost on the texture maps of the floors). But rest assured we do have big plans for Slurgs -- there is much more to them than you've seen so far."
-- Paul O'Connor, March 2000

Plus I think they're also talking about Molluck. It's pretty obvious from their constant use of phrases such as "Molluck died at the end of Abe's Oddysee... Or did he?" that Molluck is still alive, in some form or another.

This could also apply to Meeches. Obviously we take Meeches for granted because, well......they're exticnt. But that hasn't stopped us OW fans from believing they will be in a game. Whether it be a game that takes place in the past, before Glukkons chopped 'em all up, or having them return. The South Meech Diet in The Latest Daily Deception hinted that Meeches are still alive, but not as great a number as the old days.

Meeches still being in existance has been fabled on the forums for quite some time. Apparently, according to Alf if I recall correctly, the Glukkons found a small pack of Meeches and transported them into reserves for safe keeping.

Alcar...

Alcar...

Yeah I remember that. It was something like a Rupture Farms storehouse.

Anyways, I hope they come back to the whole thing of Molluck coming back. As Max said, OWI always reitterated little clues about Molluck's return, etc. Another one was something like "Molluck took the easy way out from paying, by dieing....or did he?"

Hopefully later games in the Qunitology explain his fate, etc, return.

If I recall, MO was to see a return to Rupture Farms where you'd discover Molluck.

Alcar...

Xavier 12-04-2003 12:03 PM

yup Alcar... something like that.

as for Meeches they are extinct they they have to stay that way, OWI made a extincted creature to teach us that when some creatures are wiped out, they do not come back (as on earth)
so it will be surprising if they destroy their first message and make them reapear

Nath 12-04-2003 04:41 PM

I just thought, why would a company like OWI create and design a creature like the meeche and never use it? Why only use it in the story line?

Xavier 12-04-2003 05:18 PM

and why not?
it just a part of the story, like lots of other things

oddguy 12-04-2003 06:51 PM

OWI could always make a game that takes place in the past befor the Meeches were wiped out, but it seems that OWI keeps hinting towards the return of Meeches in the present. Personally, I just love them little Meeches!:D I fell in love with them the first time I saw them. Xavier does have a good point though. OW was showing us the recklessness of the Industrials and there disregard for the well-being of the world around them. I really want Meeches to return though.:fuzwink:

Well they could also show meeches in hand of odd, being that was to take place I believe before AO, when they were still alive, and when Abe was still just an employee at Rupture Farms. Thats if they still have plans hopefully to make Hand Of Odd.

true... the design isn't lost for ever, there are still chances to see them appear in games that take place before the quitology (like Al said, Hand Of Odd)

so no panic guys, we will probably see them... later or earlier :fuzwink:

Early in the game Abe would return to the ruins of RuptureFarms (even though the factory was never ruined in the first game - I assume it would have been the derelict of the place), but I recall no mention of Molluck returning in MO. He would have been mentioned, as Maggie would have been pissed at him for a) letting Abe escape, and b) dying, and therefore being void of all financial burdons, such as paying the Chroniclers for the loss of a factory.

Xavier 12-05-2003 05:37 PM

there were hints about Molluck found alive... but that it was in RuptureFarms was pure speculation... :fuzwink:

Al the Vykker 12-05-2003 07:11 PM

Yeah, I think from what Pilot found out when he visited Oddworld Inhabitants, Molluck would return, but later in the Qunitology. But Max is right, I think MO there was just the return to Rupture Farms, and maybe the notion mentioned of Molluck being alive.
