well, elum obviosly returns as shown by images we've seen that we guess are from Hand Of Odd, but we don't know for sure. as for Abe's elum, well you know they love honey, and according to Alf (who's probly just being a bit sarcasting) that particular elum got his head stuck in a bee hive.

PS: did you know Elum is Mule spelled backwards :p

Alcar 11-29-2003 06:02 AM

Hopefully we will see Elums in future Oddworld games. Elum has so far appeared in Abe's Oddysee and Munch's Oddysee. Only, in Munch's Oddysee, Elum wasn't a playable creature (you can see Elum cut up somewhere on Vykker's Labs).

What would Vykkers use elums for???

And no, I've never knewn that it is Mule spelled backwards... Hmmm... It's actually kind of funny...

Wil 11-29-2003 08:33 AM

It's funny, but I always see people going "Hey, did you notice 'Elum' is 'mule' spelled backwards?" but I never spot anyone saying "Oh, BTW, did you notice 'Glukkon' is a play on the word 'glutton'?" Merely an observation.

I don't think anything particularly interesting has happen to either Abe's Elum or the Elum population. It's just a case of waiting for their next appearance in a game, or on this year's Christmas card.

misty 11-29-2003 09:14 PM

:fuzsad: Well I just got my OW christmas card today and the Elum is not on there but then Abe is not there either.I don't understand Oddworld did make up thair own creatures but now thay are taking chickens and just changing thair format a little,I myself am very dissipointed in OW for the stuborn changes that thay have made, but thats just my oppinion.:fuzconf:

Ah,yes,Elums.There so cool.My fav creature.

I really want to know what's up with theese fellows.

Would Elum be stated as a horse or a camel?

And I wonder why they weren't shown in Abe's Exoddus....*sigh*

"Elum will return in Munch's Oddysee. He was dropped from Exoddus primarily because of RAM cramp. There was no way we could load Abe, Elum, an enemy or two, and the moves & effects needed to do anything interesting all at the same time. Those few
scenes where he works in Oddysee were carefully scripted and pretty limited when you break them down. We'll have more RAM in Munch and we're looking forward to playing with Elum again. I think he'll be a much more dynamic character in 3D."

They may be making big Bro Elums, incase Mudokons attacked Vykkers Labs

Not the Elum, just some Elums, but, he could have been, Abe may have been low on cash when the Vykkers wanted a new experiment.

Alpha 09-06-2004 10:07 AM

whats the name of elums speices?

Fuzzle Guy 09-06-2004 10:11 AM

The name of their species is 'Elums', so abe just gave his elum a pretty crap name

Nate 09-06-2004 12:25 PM

Who said he named his elum anything? For one thing we can safely assume Abe used two different elums in AO (one in Paramonia and another in Scrabania). Even more than that if you managed to kill one. Also Abe never actually refers to Elum so we don't know at all what he thinks of him/it.

I remeber in some original screenshots from around 2000-2001, that there were 3d rendered Mudokons riding 'Elums'. Does anyone else remeber? It was when MO was on PS2.

Xavier 09-07-2004 06:23 AM

those renders were from Hand of Odd, not Munch's Oddysee...

it's against the rules

hell i've seen it help forums.

Xavier 06-22-2005 11:52 AM

in this case it wasn't, was it?

a flock of seagulls 06-22-2005 02:37 PM

it didn't make the forums crash and burn into a mountain of ashes did it?

Dipstikk 06-22-2005 03:56 PM

Rule one, man: Never argue with Xav. If he says it's dead, then it's dead, even if it's still kicking and you have to kill it with a club.

misty 06-23-2005 12:34 AM

hey now, I dont want to start any trouble. Seagull, stand down if you will. Sorry xavier, I did not know it was against any rules, and for that I do apologize. But I do feel bad to let this topic go, it was one of my first you know? But I do supose that its done. Peace out.
Love and metal,
