HTTP 500 Internal server error

This error keeps apearing when I try to reply to certain threads:

HTTP 500 Internal server error

I just wanted to know if it's my computer or some small glitch.
I've discovered going back and pressing Reply again seems to work, but it's still a little worrying

oddguy 11-18-2003 06:25 PM

The same thing has happened to mwah. A lot actually. I'll just be writing a reply and when I hit "post", HTTP 500 Internal server error pops up. It works fine if I go back and refresh the posting page though. This doesn't happen all the time, but just in case I copy my text before I hit the "reply" button.

Oh, and I find that if www.oddworldforums.net/forums isn't working properly, I can go to www.oddworld.au.com/forums and it works just fine. Just a tip.

Yep, I get it too. It's really annoying.

Majic 11-18-2003 10:22 PM

Ditto. I was planning to make a thread about it soon, but darned you Adder, you beat me to it.

Al the Vykker 11-19-2003 02:49 AM

When it happens to me I usually cut what I was going to reply. And go back then hit the refresh button, and hit reply again, and then paste the reply back in. It takes a few times sometimes, but it can get a bit frustrating.

It has been happening to me as well quite a lot. The reason it hasn't been addressed yet, is because it can't be fixed. Using the different domains isn't a solution either, as it is a server problem - and all the domains lead to the same server.

You'll just have to go back, and hit submit for as long as it takes.

Yeah, I know. Just when I have a problem on one, I can go to the other. I switch back and forth.

Alcar, I hate you and your forums. Sort your shit immediately.

With love,
Fax.

*puts hand up*

It's been happening to me, too. Except it very rarely fixes itself when I hit back and refresh, so I end up saving the text in word, quitting the browser and starting again. That sometimes works. Or I just forget about posting.

*puts hand up something*

Abeguy the wise is here

same with me, but when that happens, I write some more stuff, maybe 1 or 2 symbols and it works!

Al the Vykker 11-19-2003 08:02 PM

As I said I dont think its a big deal, unless I forget to cut the text of a really long reply I was typing, and then cant get the text I typed out back. That can be frustrating. Oh well, think of it this way. Our problems could be worse.:fuzwink:

Oh my, oddguy that is funny :D

vBulletin 3 Gamma will shortly be out, that is the first "stable" release, it's not a Release Candidate but it is very similar. Hopefully upgrading will bring an end to this problem, as well as all the yummy new features.

Wow, I don't remember native style being that cool.

Cloverfield 11-23-2003 04:56 AM

Now we have a combination Native and Industrial layout. ;)

That is if I can ever get to the vBulletin.com site again. For some reason I can't access that site from two different internet connections ... so unless I can access it, I can't download the forum's upgrades. I might try emailing them and asking them what the hell is going on.

I do know that there was a massive Ddos attack on vBulletin, everything went down, as most of Asia's stagnant servers were put to use in mega-packeting the vBulletin servers. Most of ASIA! Jesus.

Anyway, as a result, a lot of IPs were banned. So do what you said, and send them an email.

Cloverfield 11-23-2003 11:50 AM

Hell... must have been some kind of huge attack. At least that explains something. They probably banned an IP address that both of my connections route through or something like that, thus why it's unreachable.
