Fan Fiction Contest Information!
 

Well, the time has finally come for the Fiction Contests to begin!:fuzsmile:

Allright PA has just started the submissions for artwork, and I am now starting Novemeber's Fan Fiction Of the Month Contest. The details are still, ever changing, but soon myself and PA will have agreed on some basic guidelines and regulations.

So far my only guidelines are as follows:

-The stories dont have to be complete, but I will come up with some additional guidlines for stories that are not complete.

-Since this is the first month, and its going to be a trial run, only one Fan Fiction can be submitted. More will be allowed later.

-Make sure you look over and edit your stories. There are many great stories here, but some need some editing.

-As soon as my new email is up and running you can send me edited copies of your story to my new email as a form of submission. But make sure you let me know here that you are entering a story.

-For now, Myself and PA will probably judge these alone. But soon we will probably appoint some other judges so we get a well rounded opinion.

-Since this is the first time this is happening. If your story isnt chosen, you will be able to submit it again for the next contest. Later on you may have to wait another month to try and submit the same story again.

IMPORTANT: Remember these are all not final guidelines. I havent been able to set up a great time to work out all the flaws, etc. So dont be upset if some of these regulations, arent what you were hoping. I will be changing them again in the next few days.:fuzsmile:

Finally, There is no set deadline for submissions

Submissions for Novemeber will begin November 1st, and probably close tentatively on the 20th.

Yes as Al stated the Contests are well on there way. So you are more than welcome to add your stuff to the contests. As soon as you do your altimatically in. But keep in mind the rules of our contest will ever so presently change as time goes on but never the less we are starting now. And please make these contest worth it and enjoyable. We have been conceptualiseing these ideas over a year now so be creative don't give us junk. And remember your work could be put in a gallery or a hall of fame.

As of right now there is no separatation between Oddworld Fiction and Off topic fiction. So it can be any of your Stories that you have posted here. Please dont give us stuff you have not posted here before.:fuzsmile:

Yes! I'm so glad the competitions are finally here! I've been waiting since last Christmas for this! Can't waifor November.

Will you be judging partially completed fics differently to full ones?

We will probably judge them on almost all the same criteria Splat, but dont worry. We are not going to hold anything against you just because your story is not completed.:fuzsmile:

Now, to actually write something ... being this new is a pain in the ass.

Man, I remember the last news update we had on this...a WAY long time ago...when I was still writing my fic. I highly doubt any of you recall Lily's Oddysee.

Hey Mac, I "recall" Lily's oddysee. When you stopped posting ages ago I kept coming to check on your fics to see if you'd updated. I'm still hopeful you know, *sigh*.

Anyway, as it is now 12:20 on November the first by my clock, i am now going to enter The Oddworld Story. It seemed to be more popular than Splat.

Well, I may as well enter Cairin's Tale, the first 5 parts anyway. I'm not happy with the ending, so please don't judge on it.

How do we submit the stories?

Good to hear you are allready done with editing things.

And to answer your question no, my new email is not set up yet. We have the domain name purchased, but it just needs to be set up on my computer. It should be done, but dont worry Splat, just keep revising another time, or worse case scenario you can just send me a Private Message, containing the entire story.

My suggestion for that is to take all the chapters, put them into microsoft word, and just format them, etc. And just send me the whole thing if you can in one message. Its similar to what I did for my first Fan Fic a couple years back.

Instead I just reposted the entire story in one post for feedback.:fuzsmile:

Whoa. You remember it? Cool. I'm not sure if I'll start it up again, though. It was originally meant to be a backstory for Lily, one of the participants in the Oddlympics, but she won't be in the Oddlympics 2.0 at all. But who knows, maybe she'll make a comeback in v3. I really liked writing that story.

I am sooooo gonna enter my story into this competition. I did post this story last year, but now i've changed it to how I feel a good story should be. It's called The Secret of the Mountain, if you wanna know. I actually finished writing this story a couple of months ago, but i've been waiting for this competition to start to post it.

Please restart the story of the mind reading fuzzle! It was good mac! One of the best here!

If you now want to submit a piece of fan fiction do it through PM to me. Copy and paste all the chapters in a word document to edit them, and proof read them. Then, organize them in order of chapters, and submit in one pm to me, and I will judge from that PM.

Things will be easier when my email is fully restored, but for now I must do this by PM. I only have one right now and submissions will go through the 20th of November.

This is just the first trial version as I stated, and rules, guidelines, deadlines, limits, are all availble for change, or in need of editing.:fuzsmile:

After re-reading it, I'll be re-writting it for the next contest.

I will start judging as soon as the entry submission is closed which is the 20th of November. But so far I have received only four stories. Ill probably start reading them all this weekend, but judging will not officially begin until the deadline.:fuzsmile:

And Adder you will need to re send your story if you choose to rewrite it, or revise it again. Otherwise I would judge the first one again if you entered the same story again without sending me a new version.:)

Anyways Im glad you guys are getting into this and enjoying it so far.

I'm entering my Dante fic.

I haven't gotten any input on it, and it isn't near finished.
But whatever.

When you are ready to submit which will have to be within the next three days before the deadline (Unless I extend it). Just proof read it, and edit it, and send it to me with all the chapters in order, with how many you have thats fine. But try and make sure to get the entire thing in one pm. If you have any problems and you forget to send a chapter that had allready been finished when you decided to submit I will accept it.

I apologize that my email will not be up and running, nor will my new computer, so I am doing this contest through Private messages for subissions. Next time around, it will hopefully be much easier.

Well Submissions to the contest are now closed. I would like to thank all those who submitted work to me, and your hardwork on your fictions. Judging will start, and I will announce the winners hopefully on December 1st, or within the first week of the new month.:fuzsmile:

I will be getting several other opinions too, so that this is not just soley based on my impressions of each story, and so that each story gets an unbiased opinion too.:)

Huzzah! at last! I've been waiting almost a year for this...

Are there gonna be second and third place winners to?

Are there going to be like different categories? Like, one would be "Best Character Development" and another would be like "Best Use of Suspense", or is it just one story that will win?

I will try and have some other awards so that not just one wins, unless there was a story that could take up all of the other awards. I will probably put in three or four extra besides, Fan Fiction of the month. What the other awards are has not been decided upon yet.:fuzsmile:

Anyways, if you want to enter Quest for the Can opener the original one (Its just far back somewhere in the archived threads) make sure you submit it sometime in december, after you look over it or have proofed everything. :fuzsmile:

excuse my retardedness, this was probly already mentioned but i'm fuzzy on this....

does it have to be a fanfic we already wrote, or can it be one we are writing

i would love if you'd judge my Evit's Oddysee story. but it is not finished, nor is it anywhere near. i have been hesitating to write it lately because of my continual work on the oddworld cartoon and other threads.
