Oddworld Topsites... revamp in need...?
 

Are the Oddworld Topsites still running? I signed up for it yesterday, and my site wasn't added to the list... *cries* :fuzemb:

I think they are in need of a new design or something, or have they gone forgotten?!:fuzsad:

Well, they still have Oddworldian as a site on there, so they need to update, especially after OW Maniac and OW News went down the drain as well.

I told Alcar to update it... but he said he was gonna do this major update or something. His always busy... maybe i'll remind him more :p

I agree! There are a lot of sites that are no longer running. Hopefully when the new games come out OW will become more popular, and we'll get some new sites ;)

Yeah, that would be so great if it could just start over from the beginning. That way I could put in the Oddlympics 2.0 website and whoop all o' yeh;)

Yeah i've told him that to, most of the sites up on the oddworld topsites aren't even there anymore. I've told him to fix the thing but he has so many things to do. He'll prolly fix it now since so many people ask.

The Oddworld Topsites were indeed going to be re-released quite a long time ago. I had created new software for it, and it is also currently running hidden on the server. I forget why we didn't re-released it. Concerning website data, all previous data was transferred, meaning all hits (etc) are still intact.

The problem facing me now, is that the actual software is redundant and quite crap compared to my current level of scripting. I'd not feel right releasing it just yet. But I'll put everything else on hold and fix them up tomorrow. Who knows, maybe you'll have the new topsites tomorrow.

*sigh* So many things to do. I'm studying all of next week for my School Certificate, and in-between the study I've got to maintain an active forum and social life. Not to mention all the things I'm scripting. They'll get done, eventually :fuzzle:

Yes, thankyou for giving me a good kick in the bum! I've actually finished the topsite's home page, which is basically the major part of it.

I've reduced the sites down, so that only Oddworld websites actually still viewable are included. I've also just added Oddworld Online to the list :fuzzle:

To goto the Oddworld Topsites follow this link: http://www.oddworlduniverse.com/topsites/index.php However, remember that there is now a limit of voting per day for a site. I've also got quite a lot to go in terms of the Control Panel and basic user functions, but those don't need to be completed as of yet.

However, the address will more than likely change over to be on Abe Babe's side of the server. For now, until Abe Babe gets in touch with me about it, it'll stay on my side.

Okay, Abes Net has been removed. I've also take nthe liberty to add the image of Munch you supplied as your banner image, as well as changing an error in the addresses.

Well, actually that's the problem. As far as I know, I don't have deletion permissions on the /oddworld directory, which obviously is where all the lovely OWW, OWF (etc) files are. So I wouldn't be able to delete files when they become redundant, as in, newer versions.

Yeah, the new address for OWW is index.php?in=2 (appended to whatever address is being used for the topsites).

Changed, and I've also taken the liberty to update the files and database to a newer version. Hopefully it should load faster now, what with all the pre-caching templates and all.

Yes, yes. More Oddworldish, as you can see it uses the same style as the one I posted in EL. I've just grown attached to it :p But it'll change in time, most like when I've got the Control Panel functional (everything is done manually at current).

Whats the use of registering at oddworld topsites and logging in?
I see the thing at the top... to log in and register..

Sometimes people might have to change their website details, or email address, or password (etc). So they can log in. However, for some reason the cookies won't work... I don't know why either :|

Anyway, about that. I have upgraded the Topsites once again, it now has a complete Front-End, all I need to do is the Control Panel now.

It’s great to see the topsite list is ALIVE again... I can’t believe my site is number 1! :fuzgrin: anyway I can’t remember my log in details , :fuzconf: is it possible for them to be sent to me again? I need to update my URL to my site.

And may I say everyone’s sites look mighty fine, it’s great to see some new sites popping up on the net!
