I hated Highschool!

I can say the worse years of my life was highschool. Why you may ask? Because it just was. I hated highschool Then you get the preps and the quote on quote popular dudes. I can say I was pretty much the oddball of my school. I never did any extracricular activities and I was always eluseive. I was sort of like my own crowd which actually I enjoyed. I did things my own way which was comfortable for me. Which basically how I became an artist for one.

I hated the food and the prices. $10.00 for a pizza and it tasted like cardboard. Oh and the structure like atmospher in Highschool. Mann I hated that. 8 periods a day five min between classes. My school was horrible. there were so many people in my school that it was a wall of people you couldn't go anywhere. And plus the way they built my school was intended more so like an art deco where you can actually see downstairs and upstairs. There wasn't any room to move anywhere. You wouldn't believe how many people were late to their class. And the school is like "Thats no excuse you need to be on time or you get suspended after three tardies."

I am so glad I am out of that fu*cking hell house of a school. No more structure.

Do any of you hate highschool or hated highschool? Because this is the thread to bash Highschool!:smokin:

Mac the Janitor 09-03-2003 12:17 PM

Well, I'm a freshman right now, and I kinda like it.

I'm not really bothered by those little groups (i.e. jock, stoner, "punk", poser, etc.). I'm basically accepted by everyone and not really bothered. I get to do my own thing, and still be "accepted" by most people. In other words, everybody loves me :p

As for the foods, our food is alright, but in December our school district is making all schools get rid of all fatty and sugary foods...which is like...everything. So I dunno what they're going to do about that, but I'm not really bothered by it. With the way I eat right now, people would think I'm training for the Tour De France or something.

RavenMM 09-03-2003 12:23 PM

well i live in the UK so it would be secondary school but its the same thing but 4 the first years 2ndary school sucked but the last years wer gr8 but saying that american school life sounds tuff i would probably hav a crappy time in an american school

Wil 09-03-2003 03:12 PM

I can truthfully say that I'll completely miss being in high school. Like Raven, I imagine I'd be utterly miserable in an American school system, but right here and right now I love my school, even if I put my MSN name as "FUCK SCHOOL!!! BOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!" and wrote a miserable uJournal entry.

Now, on with the important stuff: 'Preps'? 'Freshman'?

Hobo 09-03-2003 03:46 PM

We have fewer groups(I think ) in the UK, there's usually, Shy people/ geeks, rudies *shudder*, Townies*shudders and whips out rocket launcher* Religious freaks, Grungers or Goths.

I haven't found secondary school too bad, i joined a shy group and have been quietly plotting the death of my english teacher.........

Jacob 09-03-2003 04:13 PM

Hobo, what are Rudies?

I didn't mind Secondary school, but i prefare College more, at College i'm adored by everyone, wereas at school we had homophobics etc that hindered my amazingness.

At College we don't have religious freaks...we have tonnes of Townies though...which is, highly annoying. Still...i'll happily wittle them down to size with my razor sharp wit and knife-like tongue...

Majic 09-03-2003 06:22 PM

As far as I know, social classes here are the same as Europe. I'm also just fine in school. In an American public school. w00t. Take that, you haters:p

Preps- Stupid, wannabe trendy people who are stuck up. *giggles*

Freshman- First year high school students. Freshmen, sophmore, juniors, and seniors. Simple.

Alcar 09-03-2003 06:26 PM

The High Schools here are very different, well, from my experiences anyway. I've only ever gone to Catholic Schools for my education, and the system there is more strict. I guess you could say there are social status' but, I'd mostly put it down to certain people having certain traits.

I enjoy School, except for the work :D

Alcar...

SeaRex 09-03-2003 07:01 PM

High school is fine for me. However, I really hate work and high school at the same time. Rushing from school to work in ten minutes and then working for six hours is like a slap in the face... not to mention homework. And I've got Physics and Pre-Calc. this semester. Not a pretty picture.

But besides that, I don't really have any qualms... with high school at least. Oh sure, people are jerks sometimes, but the "maturity bar" (heh... I'm so clever) rises somewhere around junior year. And if people make fun of the way you look, you can just stare at them... because chances are they look pretty damn stupid anyway.

But I'm one of the lucky ones. I've got a great significant other, I can fit in with just about anyone (rednecks, trendy people, juggalos, emo kids, goths, christians, atheists, you name it), and best of all, I'm not afraid to be myself. And that's a plus... I guess. Look, I'm not trying to go "after school special" here on you guys, OK? :dodgy:

Like Mac, I just seem to be the weird kid that everyone knows. :p

oddguy 09-03-2003 07:22 PM

I'm homeschooled, but if you could label a grade on me, it'd be junior. Homeschool is pretty laid back and you can learn at your own pace without a class to hold you back. When I'm hungry, I eat. When I'm tired, I take a nap. It's very easy to get behind though, so you have to constantly be on yourself. I could finish my work at 2:00pm or 3:00pm, but lazy days end at 6:00pm.

I am, however, trying to get into this school called "Cart". Center for Advanced Research and Technoledgy. Take a look at this site. It's a highschool for juniors and seniors and has a very unique learning method that is very college-like in style.

highschool is ok for me, i see AL all the time and im not really ne thing, im not very invovled ( i was when i was a freshman but im a Jr now) but im not one of those weirdos who talks to themselves and runs to class, im not gothic or a punk or anytihg really, but in my highschool near chicago nobody really makes fun of ppl for being geeks or ne thing. some mean ppl make fun of mexicans or other ppl cuz they r racist i guess ( no offense if ur mexican) but really school isnt that bad, the food dont bother me cuz i can go out to lunch and i usually go to mcdonalds, taco bell, or wendys. homework isnt fun but school isnt too bad, im pretty much friends w/ everyone

OANST 09-03-2003 08:57 PM

I for one wish I was back in high school. My stress levels have increased dramatically since then.

A "Rudie" is short for Rudeboy/Rudegirl. It means someone who is truly into ska, knows their ska/bluebeat history and origins, and supports their local ska scene. But most kids who claim to be rudies today are not at all truely rudies at all. They're usually only in it so that they can wear checkerboard stuff, which is quite sad...

Disgruntled Intern 09-04-2003 02:03 AM

Highschool is just like any other social event, for me.

Unenjoyable, but tolerable. I have my close group of friends, though I'm usually off by myself somewhere reading a book [currently the satanic bible] and/or smoking cigarettes.

I have a car, and my school is open campus, so I leave at every chance I get.

I'm not really bothered by the large number of bodies..er, people, at the school, though you do come across, rather, walk past some people who smell rather odd.

I am also the weird guy at school. Except because I have a naturally sarcastic tone and cadence, everyone tends to avoid conversing with me.

This suits me just fine. I have the few people who know and love me.

And oddly enough, about 10 freshmen stalkers.

Oh, I'm a senior, by the way.

Forbidden Paradise 09-04-2003 05:43 AM

I miss high school, to my surprise. It was glorious after I completed my final exams 2 years ago, but you really can't forget all the cherished memories you had. That and the fact it is near to impossible to round up all your friends to do something, because of job conflicts and gf/bf stuff. My results were top and I was also a good athlete, so I had nothing to complain about. Except the fact that we had 3 schools sharing one campus (public, Catholic -me, and Christian) and we were always getting into fights at break times

But I now have a job and when I retire I know I will miss that too :D

Facsimile 09-04-2003 09:55 AM

Wow. These group classes are increble. Why do you do it? Why do you class some people by what they do, or think. When will you all learn to get along?
No seriously. The group thing is really quite horrible. We don't have anything like that here. And why don't Americans just call their 'Freshmen' by the grade they are in, or something. It's creating even more groups!
I am finding, that what I call college, and what you call 'high school', is getting me rather down. I don't know what it is, but before I started there, I was a much happier, funnier person.

Jacob 09-04-2003 10:27 AM

I'm starting to get tired of the whole labelling thing, its boring, stressful and annoying...but so long as i stay up high on the social ladder i won't be making an effort to change anything...

Is anybody else bored of Life? I am...i want to try something new...like Death...plus i have this immense curiosity for whats on the "other side". I also have nothing holding me back here...aside from the fact that when i get older i shall be taking over the world...

Hmmm...i had a dream were it was said that my Death would cause the end of the world...i laughed...and then pondered the immense amazingness of such a thing...

Ditto man. I basically can get along with anybody in the school. I think its just I have a personality and will do things my way, and not have to follow the current trend. I set my own for myself. Yes, I do have my basic inner circle of friends throughout the school but things are really good. Freshman year was good, I did well quite well. The food was such an improvement, but I will be glad when next year when I'll be a junior, I'll be able to go out to eat, etc. So far though, Soph year is great.

MrBoj 09-04-2003 10:24 PM

High school (secondary school) was so easy. It was easy back then. No real concerns.....no real worries.....and a lot less work. Socially, it appeared frustrating then, because you were jsut "coming of age" and starting to realize how the world is in YOUR EYES. YOu may have discovered an attraction for the opposite sex that you never dreamed of.....or of the same sex that you had dreamed of, but never really thought much of it.

The United State's education system, over all, is mediocre at best. (no Melvin, that quote was not intentional) But you have to enjoy it as much as you can. Things get boring, hard, and you may hate your job even more than high school. If you're in high school enjoy it! You onhly get one chance to act like a fool and be too cool for school!

paramiteabe 09-09-2003 03:22 PM

I just personally enjoy the laid back atmospher of College. I mean I just really hate 8 classes a day 24/7. It just gets gruleing after awhile. That was the reason why I dident like highschool. The friend aspect of Highschool was nice. I have a lot of friends and they feel the same as I. They hated Highschool too. I guess my Highschool was a pretty bad school. A lot of the students at my school felt similar. My town sucks!

24/5...unless you had lessons on Sat and Sun...

All Geeks, Dorks and other lower social creatures hate Highschool. Mainly because in Highschool your social status matters, whereas in College it doesn't. Because the creatures who were rejected from school all go to College and so swarm around with the same beings that were once rejected at school aswell.

I went to College due to school not doing my lessons...and due to the fact i hated that every cute guy at school was straight...that was intensly annoying.

This is why I like block schedule. Starting as a freshman last year, and continuing this year as a Soph, istead of having 8 or nine classes I have 4 classes(excluding jazz band, and show choir combo). All my classes last about an hour an fifteen minutes, and I go to school from 7:40 AM to 3:15 PM(when I have Jazz Band, I go there at 6:40).

One term is 9 weeks, and there are 4 terms in the school year. Some classes like math and world studies, or a foreign language class are two terms. Others such as art or web design, science, etc. are one term, all depending on which ones you take. Then Band and Jazz band are year round. Every term most of the classes will change if they do not fit into certain categories.

I really like it this way though. I only have to focus on a four subjects instead of 9 like it was in Junior high. That is why I do really well in school now, plus having much better teachers, who actually know how to teach.

Plus this term especially, I usually only have homework in math, so I have plenty of time to do other stuff too.

Its all opinion, you may like it you may hate it.

I personally, think its great. Its not amazing, but its not horrible. I dont mind it. Of course, I prefer the summer. :p

paramiteabe 09-10-2003 12:07 PM

Which also reminds me that I enjoyed my elective classes as oppose to my general study. I was takeing art courses back to back during Highschool because thats what I enjoyed and also thats obvieously what made me figure out what I want to do in my life. That part was nice.

Its just the policy of my school which really sucked and people I know will back me up on that. I mean it was crowded and the halls were very narrow, You had five min to get to class and you couldnt move anywhere because there was that many people. My school was built strange. or you get tardied and after 3 your suspendid. Then some of my instructors did not know how to make a class fun and it was like pointless I never got anything out of those.

Only my art and science teachers were great teachers. I became an artist because of them. I also had to be tutered in certain subject areas like math and English. And my English teacher Mrs. Harris never thought I would amount to anything or make it in College. She was pretty much an ass. Well two years later here I am getting a dagree in Illustraition take that you damm English teacher! She dident give anybody who were getting tutered in those areas any encouragement or respect and I knew a lot of bright people in those classes. It was horrible. They thought less of us because we had a minor learning disability. I can say Ive come a long way since that. Ive mastered College English and I struggled in College level Math but survived enough to pass with a C and now I don't worry about it anymore. But none of that math will apply for me because I am going in Illustraition. So its nice to have those math skills because you can never tell when you come across them again. Its sort of a side skill thing with me.

When I was a Senior I had early dismissal which was nice. And in my sophmor year I had blocked courses aswell and the good thing about that was the fact that my blocked classes were electives which was drawing, painting, Graphic Design, Lettering Graphic design, Drawing 2 etc and some enviormental science classes which were nice too. The rest like math, English, Gym, which I hated with a pashion though when I took a golf class that was alright, and language classes really sucked. Other than that it wasn't so bad for me. I still dident like Highschool as much as I enjoy College. I graduated in 2001 so it wasn't that long ago. Highschool for me, prompted me to persue college because of my electives I took during HS. All and all those are my positives and negatives for me when I was in HS.

SeaRex 09-10-2003 06:38 PM

Which college are you going to PA? Columbus Art?

Oddfan 09-10-2003 06:57 PM

and for the records guitar_kid hates me now.:crying:

My sister loves band, but this year, her band teacher sucks

Al the Vykker 09-11-2003 01:54 AM

Although Im doing well in all my other classes right now. I still have to say my two band classes are really fun. Especially Jazz Band, its a much lighter atmosphere than regular band, and it can really take the weight of everything of my shoulders. Maybe its because I like jazz music so much though.

Ashe 09-11-2003 02:59 AM

Hello paramiteabe. I did like school. But mostly being with my friends during lunch we would have fun. We would look at cute guys around the school and giggle and talk girly talk. I had a group of friends and we done everything together if we could. I was not a popular girl, but not unpopular either. In the middle maybe. The schooling was alright I would say, but I do enjoy college much more as it is more flexible and I am learning something that I am interested in instead of having to do subjects that i do not like. And I can still have fun with my friends. ;)

What is homeschool? Does this mean you can stay at home and do schoolwork? I do not think that is allowed in Australia unless you live in the outback where there are no schools and you need to do school by radio.
