Oddworld.com Updated

I'm on a Jacobian run, here. One more month and I'm on par with him. Okay, Oddworld.com has been updated. Don't get too excited, there's no big news about Oddworld 4. In fact, if you were to look at the updated page, you'd think there was very little to get excited about. Very little of interest in Dear Alf, with the titular tea-drinker once again ripping it out of people who can't spell the word 'presume'. However, twice he tells us that the gameplay takes place in Mudos, so that's that. He also doesn't exactly say that Abe and Munch won't be in the game.

Next, it's Fan of the Month! Woo! First new FoM since, cripes, how long has it been? Well done to Jonathan, who not only is another glorious British FoM, but also got to visit OWI!! Is he a member of the Forums?

Next, on to the Interview with Rich McKain. Woo! News on Steef's game, at last! They have completed the opening CGI movie for the game, and are about to move onto a 'very revealing' movie that takes place part-way through the game. I'm thinking disguise, reveal and the Steef, but who knows! He also refers to the end of the game being, well, kick ass, lol!

Enjoy!

Hmmm. Lorne told us that Abe and Munch were getting a vacation, so I thought that meant that Abe and Munch weren't going to be in the game. Then we get this from Alf:

Q: Hi Alf I have a couple of questions. 1. in the upcoming game do you play as abe or is he out of the storie. 2.Also does the latest game still have the same type of gameplay.

Alf: Uh, no, no, and sorta but not really.

Maybe this means that Abe and Munch will have an apperance in the game and maybe we'll see how Munch is doing raising all them baby Gabbits!

hmmm that sounds more like something that would better fit in a quintology game

Wil 09-02-2003 06:40 PM

Gah! *hits himself* Yes, oh God I'm so sorry. Everybody, praise Xavier who discovered Oddworld.com had been updated. I was actually about to turn off the computer when he told me. And there I am shamelessly going as if it was all me.

Praise Xavier, everyone.

I was just sayin' that maybe we'll get an update on how they're doing in OW4.

I thought it was interesting that the maybe-someday oddworld movie kept being mentioned. They must really be working on it, otherwise Alf wouldn't have kept mentioning it.

Also, Rich said he liked animation Abe. Did he work on MO? If not, that means Abe must appear in OW4.

Steef 09-02-2003 10:41 PM

Yeah, I would think that they're really gonna be thinking about the movie a lot. Alf never woulda mentioned it otherwise. Also, the dude who they interviewed said that Abe would make a "great movie character". Personally, I think he would too.
I't wouldnt be one of those lame films that almost ruins a series, either. *cough* Tomb raider *cough*
Does anyone else feel as though an oddworld movie would totally rock??

oddguy 09-02-2003 11:10 PM

A movie would do Oddworld real well. OWI is so creative, I could see them coming up with a unique idea that would capture attention. A bomb like the Final Fantasy movie won't be the fate of OW!

I just checked the credits, Rich Mckain _did_ work on MO. *Sigh* still, I think Abe is probably gonna to make an appearance in the new game, even if it's only a quick cameo. Anyways, back to the movie. What do people think would be the best story to use?
I think that Abe's oddysee would make the perfect movie....

Mac the Janitor 09-02-2003 11:39 PM

Steef, there will be a movie for every Quintology hero. The movie will consist of their Oddysee storyline, along with all the storylines from their bonus game/games (in Abe's case, Abe's Exoddus). I'm guessing that they're working on Abe's movie, but who knows. They may suprise us.

oddguy 09-02-2003 11:59 PM

So, these movies are geared more towards non-OW fans, no? If the movies contained original storyline of the games, it'd be like more of an extended version of the same ideas, right?

Yeah, except it will go through it with much more detail, revealing a ton of more things that happened that are not shown in the game FMV's...or so they say...

Agreed. We all should agree, theres no way that theres not going to be an oddworld movie, and its going to be great time seeing how they would adapt AO to the screen, etc.

Very cool. When it comes out, we'll finally get all the background stories straight and maybe know some more OW history. Whooooooo!:D

Forbidden Paradise 09-03-2003 06:04 AM

All in all, an Oddworld movie would be fantastic. Imagine seeing a Scrab, Paramite or Slig fully rendered on "the big screen" with the use of special effects. Don't forget the sound effects either! Rupture Farms on an even larger scale, and more exploration of the interior. A deeper look into each character's personality and emotional reaction towards one another. Revealing more than the FMV sequences... one can only imagine...

Cloverfield 09-03-2003 08:25 AM

Well I guess it is time to give up my title. LOL Fan of 3 months ain't that bad. Haha. Now I need to go and find a new title.

I don't think Johnathan is a member of OWF ... I've already done some checking. However he still may be, but unless he wanders out and tells us who he is, we can't give him his title.

*wanders away to update Oddworld-Web*

Abe Babe...
