I found a pic

this is quite intresting, it was ripped form the X-factor but the quality is still quite good...
you can see Raymond Swanland (I think it's him) working on a handfull artworks, and you can actually recognise some of them (I regonised some "salamanders" and "orcs")

I dunno if you allready saw it but I tought it could be helpfull

edit: I suggest you to save the picture and to zoom on it, it will be easier for you

I actually did see this in the video, but it was only the last time I played through it (on Sunday I believe) that I noticed the thing Raymond Swanland was actually drawing. The camera just doesn't linger long enough to make out what it is, but whatever it is it's another humanoid creature.

and look at the figure below, it looks like a shell on his head! hmmmmmm....

sorry bout the res, look close

Wow, quite cool. The one on the top of the bottom paper has a dung beetlish head, I think.

EDIT: Hey Xav, what happened to Oddworld-Fr.com? It comes up as page not found...did I miss something or am I just being stupid?

Xavier 08-12-2003 04:23 PM

you'r not stupid... OWM is down for the moment, because psykobee didn't have the time to keep it up

and Max, I know it is in the video, I said in my initial post that it was taken from the X-Factor :fuzwink:

Wil 08-12-2003 05:17 PM

Hehehe, I know you know it was in the video, I wasn't trying to suggest you didn't. I meant simply "I'd noticed it myself," but rather rambled on a bit within the sentance.

As for the 'dung beetle' creature, the lower of the two drawings reminds me of Jar-Jar Binks (or however it's spelt, I'm not a tremendous fan of Star Wars). The poacher is also quite similar to the hammerhead alien from the same franchise, it's been pointed out to me.

Mac the Janitor 08-12-2003 08:05 PM

Good point, Max, that hunter does show a lot of resemblance to the hammerhead guy...

I can't quite see what you're saying about the lower creature, though. I can't quite make it out.

Cool picture but it is going to take me a long time to get used to the new concept artists. Farzad pretty much made oddworld with his character designs so this new guy has big shoes to fill. Hopefully the new creature designs will grow on me.

yes, i agree....
It was unfortunate for OWI when Farzad left, aswell as a dissapointment for OW fans.

That guy has HUMONGUS shoes to fill. The old style is what kept me hooked! But new things are sometimes good!
