Auto E-mail notification
 

I'm subscribed to many threds on these forums, but I find I'm not getting E-mails telling me about replies.

In a certain case I started a thred, came back 2 days later and had 7 replies. I NEVER GOT AN EMAIL TELLING ME!

I think it might be because i changed the default action in user CP to have email notification ticked.
Or it might be because I'm subscribed to a lot of threds, but I doubt that.

any advice or reasons why this is happening?
(And yes I did tick the box!!!)

It's nothing you have done wrong. Unfortunately it is the server we are on. The mail component doesn't work correctly. For some reason it will reject emails sent to some email addresses and return them to the default forum address (i.e. to me) instead. Other email addresses work fine. I have no idea what is causing it, as I aren't an expert on this kind of thing.

It's the same reason I have to manually resend account activation emails. I don't however resend post notification emails simply because there are too many of them, and I don't have time to send them out manually to every member and every post that they subscribe to.

The problem can only be fixed if the server host fixes it (unlikely), we move servers (likely, but I haven't found a new one yet), or you change your email address. But even changing your email address wouldn't guarantee it would work, so I wouldn't recommend it.

Fixing it? I doubt they know the problem

Move it? AS SOON AS YOU FIND ONE THAT WORKS!

Change e-mail? Have you any idea how hard it it to get a Yahoo ID??? I asume that's why you don't recomend it.
