WHAT GOT YOU TO BE A BIG OW FAN????
what got you to be a huge oddworld fan
was it the..... a) wonderful scenary b) the funny humour in the game c) aliens d) the origanal gameplay e) your sick thoughts for the creatures f) the gamespeak g) farts h) puzzles and brainteasers i) the wonderful creatures j) your parents forced you k) the queer music |
my parents forced me! :)
Well I think first it was just because it was so funny and cool. Now I see that it is a big universe and a fantastic world. But you may already know that I can´t explain that. |
I thought it was going to be a alien shoot up when i got it but the gameplay was what cought my attention. Alos the talking made me be a top OW fan. Because there are not any games like Ow at ALL
|
I´m not a big fan... I´m a HARDCORE fan (and a Vykker in added)

When I got AO, I was seriously impressed with the dramatic opening sequence. RuptureFarms looks really scary in that vid!As I continued playing, I thought the characters were really cute. Until you squashed them. ;) I was attracted to the Sligs straight away. I didn't like meeting them in gameplay, because they always wanted to shoot me to pieces, but otherwise I thought they were very sweet. And the Paramites and Slogs were even cuter! Glukkons didn't feature very prominently in AO; they were confined to about two or three FMV clips and only appeared in one screen gameplay wise. I became a Glukkon fan when I got AE, and the Glukks featured very prominently, and I realised how groovy they were. I hate making Sligs and Glukkons explode when I'm done possessing them; I wish you could just 'unpossess' them like you can with Paradudes and Scrabs.
Edit: Oh yeah, some other things as well. I LOVED the farting! To my knowledge, there is only one other game with farting in gameplay (Tombi) but I'd love to know if there are any others. When I first got the game I would just make Abe stand there and fart continuously for no reason at all, and my brother and I would just sit there laughing hysterically! It was even funnier when I discovered that other creatures responded to farts; I used to make Abe talk to another Mudokon and fart at him, and both he and Abe would laugh. Then if I made Abe laugh, the other Mud would fart back! I used to seek out Muds with high-pitched voices (there is some variation in the voices of all the Muds, but this is more prominent in AE than in AO), because they did squeaky farts to match! Speaking of GameSpeak, that's another thing that attracted me to Oddworld. It's such a simple idea, and yet so brilliant. I'm amazed that no other game thought of it before. Some games let you choose what a character says when a question is asked of him/her, but it's just not the same thing (going a bit off-topic here, but the funniest example of this is in Spyro 3, where Spyro is asked to pay some gems to lower a bridge, and you can choose whether to make him say 'Sure, whatever' or 'Take off, hoser!' ![]() [ June 26, 2001: Message edited by: One, Two, Middlesboogie ] |
Seriously, now:
1- Love the Oddworld games over all the other games 2- Think Oddworld is the cool place to live 3- Love every character, race and location of Oddworld 4- Think OWI are good people making the best games !!!!!!!!!!! |
I got into it 'cause Oddworld has no humans in it whats so ever. That and im a fan of the adventure/stratergy games, cool characters/creatures, oh and the sneaky way OWI exposes the evil of modern technogy *grin with lots of pointy teeth* :D eehehehehehe

Ok I got AE because I had a game that dident work on my comp and I went to replace it and some grate force of the ODD forced me towards it and I bought it then a couple of monthes later I had to buy AO and ever sinceI bought AE I have been a absolute fan.

I remember that I saw a comercial for AO just as it came out, before I even had a PSX, and I wanted it badly. I think it was because the game looked so complex, plus it had made-up creatures from a different world and beautiful environments. I finally rented the game when I did get a PSX, and I loved it because of the reasons above and the characters. Of course, Molluck immediately became my fav character because he's so eeeeevil :D Oh, and while playing the game with my dad, he found out how to make Abe fart and that made us laugh for at least a half an hour. So, I was hooked from that moment on, and when AE came out, I loved Oddworld even more for its complexity and amazing characters, 'specially the Glukks.

juat playing the game already.LOL

I first heard of Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee when I got the demo from Playstation Underground. The demo comsisted of the beginning of Ruture farms. I loved it ever since. It was so different, I couldnt believe it, and it was good!
Now, the biggest reason why I love Oddworld is the story itself. It has to be one of the best stories ever written for a video game. I cant wait until the next chapter to unfold. |
i saw abe's oddysee on a blockbuster video stand around the time it first came out.. it was out of stock, there was only one copy. and for 2-3 weeks it was out... i was like god damnit that guy on the front looks cool i want to play this.. what the hell.... but finally it was there one day and it was the first thing i grabbed. when i got home i started it. the opening movie blew my mind. the characters were like nothing i've seen it i was hooked from that instant... when the game actually started the gameplay was like "dude this kicks ass"!! i could tell people what to do. possess the guys with guns. it was the greatest game i ever played.. i didnt stop playing that game.. ever. i relized why it was out for 3 weeks... greatest game ever.
but seriouly the charaters and story is what got me hooked for the most part.. the whole game was unbelievable ![]() |
I saw Elum on the cover of Abes Oddysee, thought he looked awesome, bought the game, and I have loved it ever since.

You don't have to do diddily Squat!LOL. Just watch the commercial. And play the games and be obsessessism with it.LOL

I always love the "how you got into Oddworld" topics... I remember starting one back on the ezBoard. Anyways... here goes!
![]() I've always been into games... since I was a kid... mainly of adventure, RPG and first person games. And of course anything where you have to explore/find. For a few years back I kind of went off playing games except for some "budget cost" PC games that I'd pick up from games sales and stuff like that. We never got a PlayStation until the start of last year when my brother bought one. Only being into sport games all he got for it was a Cricket game... boring!!! So my other brother borrowed some older games from a friend of his. About 5 games... Gex, Perfect Dark, Die Hard, some other platform game ... and Abe's Exoddus. So I kind of got back into playing games regularly again. I played a little bit of each of those games... but it was Oddworld that really drew me in. Every day after work I'd jump on my brother's PSX and play it. I think it was mainly the characters, the comedy, the game play, the creatures, the storyline and the "hidden" Mudokons that drew me to it. I played and played and I found out that there was an earlier game in the series. So I went out and hunted for Abe's Oddysee. It was hard to track down, but finally I found it on sale at a city software store (ironically I may have actually bought it anyway if I hadn't started playing Exoddus a couple of months earlier). About a week after I bought Oddysee, I started to look up information on Oddworld on the web, firstly trying oddworld.com where I found out a myriad of information and started to learn about the Oddworld Universe concept. I think that is mainly what drew me towards becoming a big Oddworld Fan. Because it was much more than just a series of games... there was so much more. And the more I read about, the more I wanted to find out and the more intrigued I became about the creatures, the places, the stories and the characters. From Oddworld.com I found those old Infogrames Forums... and read a post mentioning Oddworldian where I joined the then Oddworldian Forums. And well the rest is kind of history, Sydney asked me to be an Administrator and then when I started Oddworld-Web the forums became part of both of our sites. I guess that's more on just why I'm a fan... it's a bit of history. And I must say one more thing... that Oddworld Inhabitants themselves also have made me such a fan... few other companies care about fans the way that they do. Abe Babe... |
I got into Oddworld from whatching my brother playing the demo then when I found out about AE I just HAD to get it :D
|
Your right A'B. Oddworld takes care of their fans heaps. When i made my crummy excuse of a site. I already had an email from oddworld.com. Then the day after i got an email from Elum. Then i realised how much oddworld is in the web. I searched and searched finding stacks of sites on OW. Then i found OW-web. Then i saw a link saying...FORUMS. I nearly exploded so i signed straight away. Oh yeah and i started on oddbodd.net :)

Hi :D
First i saw the Oddworld game on a demo from a magazine. I play it but i don´t found this game good! One year later i saw this game again, my friend narrated me about this. She was total avid about this game. When i visit her i play this game again. Primarily she must profess me the plot. That was a very funny time for us! I´m walk every time in bombs. And than the Fleechers sprint behind me, i would be total edgy and make many many mistakes. But today i learn this game better. ;) Bye, TheBlueScrab ![]() |
At the beginning, i've saw Abe on the Playstation magazine, and i thought it's a stupid game with ugly Aliens who can fart!
My brother said to me :"hey, lOok...the Alien can fart!" i've said, "yeah yeah, nice for you!" 2 years later, my mothers friend showed me the game Abe's Oddysee. I was not interested in this game! but he wanted implicitly that i played the game! then i've played it... i found it gOod, the graphic, the story, the GameSpeakâ„¢ (that's the best!) ect. And i'm a huge fantasy fan, i love all crrrrrrrrrrazy things!!! And Oddworld is very crazy! Oº°'´¨`·–l[(¯`'·.,¸·´¯`·Â*> ![]() --------------------------------------------- tAKe cARe aND stAY oDD! |

My mother's friend's daughter wanted to play Oddworld as she saw the game on my table. I never liked her, she's a pain in the neck, and everytimes when she asked me :"do you have time today, then i can go to you and play Abe's Oddysee."
i always said that i have no time ![]() aargh, help! everytimes when i see her she ask me about that (for example yesterday)! She strain my nerves...she smells and is hyperactive ![]() what can i do!? Oº°'´¨`·–l[ (¯`'·.,¸·´¯`·Â*> ![]() --------------------------------------------- tAKe cARe aND stAY oDD! |
