New Oddworld, new enemys.

We are all quite excited with the new footage that has been bestowed upon us, but all this only focuses on the main characters. But what about the enemys? The generic bad guy for the past few games have been Sligs, Slogs etc etc.
Over the footage I have recently watched I noticed that the other guy besides Steef with the blunderbuss looks like Steef's rival or enemy. He was shooting at him, or at least attempting to, so I assume it may be a new sort of Slig species, meterphorically speaking.
I am just curious to what you guys think.
I am not totally convinced that the other guy is the new bad guy, but he may well be. Perhaps training buddy? :fuzzle:

Yea maybe that new slog creature could be its pet. That would be cool. I tend to think we will be encountering many inhabitants on Steef's little journey down the river Sort of like Huckleberry Finn going down the Mississippi and dealing with the locals. In the case of Steef he's running away from that dude and he is moveing down the river comming across strange locals. Steef is going to be more of an exploreing mechanic as oppose to puzzle solveing mechanics in the past. So with that in mind we might run into Khanzumers I hope. Even though they are city folk the closer we get to the big city the more likely we could see them. But I think it will be Steef and that dude as the enamy.

...what new footage?

Wil 08-06-2003 03:58 PM

The X-Factor footage. :p

I think that new slog thing is so cool! It looks like it has eyes, is that what they are or what?

oddguy 08-09-2003 11:25 PM

In the past, the puzzle solving style of OW had you go from level to level, with no chance of returning to an area you previously visited. Since the new game is described as an exploring type, do you think it'll be more of a game where you can return to certain levels and find new things?

Ooo, I really hope that Oddworld 4 will be similar to KOTOR, except without the RPG-ness of it all. Just how you can run around and do whatever quests you want, go anywhere you want, and choose your own descisions. I LOOOVE vastly open-ended games, where you take part in creating the story, the character and the experience. Heck, I bought Tony Hawk 4 just so I could make the people.

It would be so great if Steef's game was super open-ended like that. Not necessarily the character creation and modification that happens according to your decisions, but like the exploration and kinda do whatever you want additude towards the entire game.

That would be cool!

This is what I hope for in the next Oddworld game. That, also, would be cool! Like Freelancer in a way, but with more of a set path.

I think that would be cool! But I really like to be organized when I play a game.

I see one small eye.

GrigtheSlig 08-10-2003 02:46 PM

Yeah thanx Max, that's what I saw too! Do slogs usually have eyes, cause I didn't think so?

Wil 08-10-2003 06:46 PM

No, they don't. At least not where the warthog creature has its eye.

GrigtheSlig 08-10-2003 08:10 PM

Is that what they're called? "Warthogs"?

Wil 08-11-2003 07:40 AM

No, it just makes it easier to refer to it than 'that blue Slog-like thing'.

GrigtheSlig 08-11-2003 07:00 PM

Your right...what are those blob things anyway?

Wil 08-11-2003 07:12 PM

Grig, please, I'm trying my best to be nice and to be calm here, but you're pushing my patience to its utmost brink... Look through the 'official' Steef thread and you'll see that we do not know what the blobs are, nor what most of the new things in Oddworld 4 are. Once you've discovered that, there shouldn't be any more need to keep asking these questions in different threads, because we've had no information on Oddworld 4 since then...

GrigtheSlig 08-11-2003 07:23 PM

:crying: Your mean! Sorry, I just like to ask Questions!

Xavier 08-12-2003 04:46 AM

GrigtheSlig... First warning!
when I came on the forums and began to browse in the new replies, I only saw pointless answers from you (often because thing could be cool, or like here you don't use the search otption)

I'm sorry I have to do that, but otherwise you don't pay attention

$andy Mudukon 08-18-2003 04:26 AM

personally i thought the guy was running at steef in those two pics but then my friend told me he'd seen a mini movie
