Share Cool Artists!

I spend a lot of my free time drawing and when I'm not drawing i like looking at artwork. Sometimes I spend hours searching and following links to find great art on the web. I thought it would be great to have people post links to web galleries of their favorite artists.

The two sites I have posted below are very different but show the work of two of my favorite artist. I'll be back with more.

Cam De Leon is awesome! He did alot of work for the band Tool. Enter the dark side.

Although some of the subject matter of Masamune Shirow's work is a bit "racey" the art is great, with a lot of cg coloring and detail. I haven't looked through all of this site so there might be some adult content.

Rwarg... early.

Well, Jhonen Vasquez has probably been the biggest influence on my art. Before I started reading his stuff, I thought comic books were just about the goody goody super hero plots and whatnot. He inspired me to move into comic strips with my art, and possibly go for at least a minor in sequential art when I go to college.

Anno Hideaki - Not a conventional artist per se, but Neon Genesis Evangelion really got me interested in religious symbolism.

Roman Dirge - Another comic book guy. Have you ever read "Where The Sidewalk Ends" or "A Light In The Attic?" His style is like that. I don't know why I bothered posting the link... the site is down.

I know there are so many more, but again, it's early. I'll post more when I remember them.

You might have more luck with the topic if you tried to get it moved to OT.

I've heard of all those guys. I have started to be unable to stand most "serious" cartoons and animes, but Evangelion still has a lot going for it. It has very original creatures and characters considering that underneath all the psychology and stuff it is basically just another "mecha" show.

Jhonen Vasquez has definitely inspired my art, but his comics are sort of creepy. Which is the point I guess. Roman Dirges art is not as good as Vasquez but his comics are definitely more light hearted dark humor.

Btw, did you check out Cam De Leon's work? It seems like something you would like.

Here is another site for an artist I don't know much about:

Cam's stuff is pretty cool. He's got a lot of vatiety, too... you wouldn't have guessed the same artist drew some of that stuff.

Ever since the first "Alien" movie, I've loved H. R. Griger's work. His penmenship and attention to every little detail is outstanding. I believe Xavier and a few others on here are pretty big Griger fans, too.

And of course Eva is just another mecha show. You can't go wrong with giant robots! GIANT ROBOTS!!! :D

EDIT: Oh yeah! Winston Smith! I nearly forgot Winston Smith. He's a great collage artist, and has done album art for the likes of Green Day (Insomniac) and Dead Kennedys (Give Me Convenience, Or Give Me Death).

These are all great! You guys are all introducing me to some new stuff, and showing others as well. There is a lot of talent on the web, but sometimes it is hard to find without help.
