Day sha vu with Oddworld?

Ok this is a strange topic but its been bothering me for awhile. I want to know if any other person had a similar sensation when playing AO, AE, and MO for the very first time.

When I first played AO and AE and even MO, I had this very wierd and very mild and light sensation of day sha vu, or however you spell it with each of the games. Like I played these games before, long before now. I was like "I played this before but when?" Do you know what I mean?

Very strange I have to say, kind of like twilight Zone type stuff, but did any of you people have similar sensations of day sha vu when playing for the first time?:D

I can't say I've ever experienced anything like that with gaming, but I may just have forgotten. I'm pretty sure the latest ideas on deja vu is that it's images and events as you see them going straight into your long-term memory, making you think you seen those things before and stuff. But it is one orientating experience, I'll give it that.

Do you experience deja vu much outside of Oddworld?

oddguy 07-19-2003 07:50 PM

I don't recall having deja vu with oddworld...but have experienced deja vu...sometimes a lot! The feeling of re-living an event, but not being able to place it exactly is easy to explain in my conspiracy theory! I've heard about what Max mentioned, but bare with me on this concept. Okay...deja vu is a result of time tampering conducted by the government! In trying to change something, time is put into a "loop" if you will, to place the time changers before the event they want to change. The feeling of frequent deja vu probably means that time experiments are being conducted in your area! Of course, I have no way to prove this, but if anyone believes me, they can pm me. Also, I've allready typed this and tried to post it, but it said I wasn't logged in. Coincidence?

yeah! the first time i loaded AO it didnt work on my PC (wierd ey?) and the screen was just black. but i somehow knewed how the game looked, and next time i played it was like i thought it was! and i never saw the game before! how freaky is that???

*ribbit*

paramiteabe 07-19-2003 09:50 PM

Wow Terry that is freaky! Interesting though when I expierenced the deja vu it was like occuring when I was playing the game itself. As I was playing I was recalling the images and events of the games mostly in gameplay as something I have seen years ago but I couldn't grasp it quite well.

That is rather strange because I do expierence deja vu quite frequently at least within the last 5 years on many occasions. Hmm very interesting theories.

GrigtheSlig 07-19-2003 11:40 PM

That is very wierd, because before I even had oddworld I had dreams about someone trying to escape a factory! Wierd huh! Deja Vu happens alot to me for some reason, like the other day I was talking to someone and I realized that I had done this before and I quoted what he was gonna say, and he's like "How did you know that I was gonna say that???" I think that I frieked him out, but oh well!

oddguy 07-20-2003 12:01 PM

Whoa Grig! You told the future? Yes...I would be freaked out too!

Now that I think of it, I had some oddworld deja vu...I had dream about Elum before I even purchased the game. I got AE first, since I couldn't find AO at circuit city...or anywhere else for that matter. Anyway, I loved AE so much that I went to the OWI website...I found Elum in the creatures section and it freaked me out! I remebered the dream right away, and know without a doubt that Elum was in it! Another weird thing is, that when I finally got AO...Elum sounded exactly like he did in my dream!

Well...here is the dream:
I see Elum and he's eating something and he notices an asteroid glowing in the sky as it heads toward him. He just huffs and turns around so his eating isn't disturbed.

Weird, huh?

And it so reminds me of Elum!

Althought i've never had Oddworld Deja vu, i do experience it alot.

Here's my theory on Deja vu:
Every time you sleep at nite (natually), you have lots of different dreams, hundreds infact, and so I think that when you experience a Deja vu, it's infact simmilar to a dream that you have had (not neccesseraly recently).

Anybody agree with me?

terry the slig 07-20-2003 03:53 PM

wow, and i thought i was the only one with wierd de dja vu like experience!

i really wasnt kidding, i really had that wierd feeling of how i thought the game looked before i played it, maybe i had a dream about it to, maybe i once dreamed about it to, maybe its some kinda scary company that first made us dream about oddworld, and then they give us the games, and after that maybe oddworld is reall and we all will get kidnapped to oddworld where we have to work as slaves and labrats!!!!! ow the horror!!!!!

but anyway, i think de ja vu is just a reaction of the brain, a memory from a past life....a warning for what you should do, maybe its some spiritual sense that we use for something special to keep us from danger, like this one time i was on my work, and i hade this de dja vu that told me how to walk around a bush, like something scary was gonna happen if i walked the other way around......so, that made me think about it.

The thing with my deja vu was the fact I wasn't asleep nor was I day dreaming. It was just like a sudden mild feeling. I was well awake. I was playing the game and the feeling came over me that I seen this before. Whats strange about it, is that what I visioned was exactly how the games look in game play in piticular and it was like I was looking or remebering the past at the time. It was like thinking of a past life expierence to me.

Very interesting paramiteabe. Do you only have deja vu with oddworld?

I still think it's government time manipulation!

paramiteabe 07-20-2003 06:13 PM

Oh no its not just with Oddworld I get that sensation its with other things aswell. I just thought since I had an expierence like this dealing with Oddworld it would be appropiate to discuss it and see if anyone else had similar expierences and thus far it seems some did.

Nath 07-20-2003 06:17 PM

I wasn't implying that you were asleep when you were playing the game, I was implying that when you have hundreds of dreams every nite, you don't remember them all, but, when you're awake, something will trigger something off in your brain that will make it feel like you've seen something like that before but can't quite put your finger on it.

Oh, and plus you said you got the Deja vu when you played AE and MO. I can beleive you when you said you got it when you play AO first, but then, AE is basically the same, and you knew practically everything with MO before it came out.

paramiteabe 07-20-2003 06:41 PM

Actually Nath that is the most practical explanation for this. Infact it probabaly is but I have admit, it is one intresting feeling. The Government theory just doesn't seem possiable because one, time travel or time minipulation is impossible proven by Enstien but for all science, things can be disproven. The only thing that will make sense for some kind of time expierment would be working into the future as oppose to the past, and two you won't be able to make a time loop because your dealing with the past. You can't go backwards through time thats just a known fact its completely impossible. But you can go forwards in time which is light speed theory (time slows down as you approach the speed of light.) But then again the Government is known for secracy and you can never be so sure.::fuzwink: But for now I am sticking with Nath's idea because its the most practical. I guess its just coincidental that I expierenced this, dealing with Oddworld.:D

oddguy 07-21-2003 12:14 AM

I was only joking about the government thing. Really!

spike 247 07-30-2003 10:19 AM

Hmm...Deja vu, you say, my fiend and I were talking about this weeks ago. His uncle reads about this stuff, nd he told me that Deja vu is when you are asleep, and whilst you are asleep, your sould goes a day ahed of you and lives out or acts out a part in the future.

oddguy 07-30-2003 10:13 PM

That sounds just as unbelieveable as my government idea!
