Two new suggestions

Hullo, I'd like to propose to you fellow members two new ideas that hit me, right in the center of my face.
  • We add in a new feature (which I'll create) that'll allow only special people to double post - ie: Admins, Mods. This is so that people cannot double post, however it will limit the useage of multiple attachments. If you NEED to use multiple attachments, AND I mean NEED to use multiple attachments I can add specific users as well.
  • Should we ban the use of attachments as banners? It will lighten the server load, and speed up the forums. It'll also keep the server's connection bandwidth lower.

*agrees with Alcar*

I thought of the double posting one way back, but had no idea if it could be done (this was before we even had vB, so I never thought any more of it).

As for the attachments as banners ... yes, please do that. I hate people who use forum attachments for banners. *glares at a certain moderator who was attaching to link onto another forum*. There's plenty of free hosts out there. In fact I found a very small "sig" host the other day, they give you 2MB space and 10 images for free. Which is great if all you want to do is have a banner host. If anyone is interested, go to http://www.hostmysig.com.

I was going to suggest making someone making a site to host the sigs but now Abe Babe has given that website address, I have already changed my link.
:)

I completely agree. Especially with the double post thing. It annoys me that people still do that on purpose, and say "oops, double posted, etc."

TheKhanzumer 07-05-2003 06:18 PM

Both sound fine to me... As long as I get double posting privileges. I had to triple post in my art thread for attachments and I would hate to have wait for replies between every picture post since they come in waves.

Alcar 07-06-2003 04:57 AM

Yeah, I've just finished the no double posts thing. Anyone who is an Admin/SMod/Mod will automactically get access to the double posting. TheKhanzumer will be added as a special user, anyone else who wishes to be added, and has proper reason, PM me.

Abe Babe; I had to create a new template in order to make the error page show up, it is called: error_nodoubleposts

I have gone through everyone's signatures and anyone with an offending sigature has had their signature torched. I've also added this new rule into the rules page.

Alcar, you be the death of 'Fun Facts', 'Ugly people, should they be really breed' and 'Jacobs Helpline'...i hope you're pleased with yourself(!)

On the same matter, i think that such a thing is shocking. I wouldn't mind if an edited post resurfaced the topic from the abyss of decay but it doesn't...or, say, there's one colour for a new post and another colour for an edited post...hmph!

You can pm Alcar so he can give you access to double posting you know...
