Interesting article atusiya's father (as are all the links you find).
I didn't read all the site, but read the Munch link. But a lot of games don't cater for deaf people. With television you can get CCV or equivalent in order to view sub-titles on the screen if you are deaf. But there's no such thing like that for games. So unless the game actually has sub-titles in it in the first place (games like Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts, etc do because they are RPGs, and many RPGs are based on a lot of reading), it instantly eliminates this part of the gaming populace. Maybe one day gaming companies will consider this more, and introduce an optional sub-title to their games. That's what they do with FFX, even though it has voice acting, you can opt to play the game with or without sub-titles. Abe Babe... |
Adventure games are good with subtitles. Like Grim Fandango.
I think all games should have the option... I wish they would have subtitles so they don't have to make non-English speaking peaple in games speak English. In Deus Ex, it would have been much better if they spoka Japanese in hong kong, and French in paris, with subtitles. Just like movies. |
Thats pretty cool!
Actually, that rating is quite understandable. Playing a game you can't understand must be really hard. A lot of the games I have played are all subtitled. Eg, Dead or Alive and Harry Potter! I don't think many companies think about that type of thing... ~Miss Odd Serenity |
