Did anyone else notice the change of Abe's face?
I already know that the changed his fingers and his voice, but i think that some of the designers from infogrames kinda made Abe's mouth a little bit more squished up than GT had it. This is most evident in the Gamespeak scene in MO. I was just wondering if i'm crazy again...
|
no.........your not crazy. i don't even own MO but from the comercials i have scene abe's face is pushed in a bit
|
sorry, but I don't see much differences

It changes color.

You're right, it does look a little different in the MO Gamespeak screen to the other ones.
But no one from GT or Infogrames or Microsoft designs anything in Oddworld. Microsoft probably chose to put the Halo (I think) demo in MO, but that's all. |
the difference is very small...
evry creature on Oddworld envolve... Abe too |

I think the word you're looking for is change or develop. I suppose Abe's head changing shape could happen over years, especially if he went through a puberty equivilant. But how long is it between Abe destorying the brewery and Him meeting Munch? |
:
Puberty can=> he's 15 and his lifespan is 40 years |
yeah abes color in AO is different than his color in AE and MO, which where very similar. I read that a mud's color can be affected VERY MUCH by his surrounding. Cave dwellers such as blind, mining mudokons become very pale. Native mudokons look like an entirely different race than the worker muds. I think that his lightening in tone from the first game to the next to is because of not having to deal with so many gases and chemicals. Abes becoming more native, only resembling his former self by the stitches on his lips. in AE muds could show emotion by spurts of bright colors. We know that many octopus species and cuddle fish have this same ability. As for abe's dopier look, the designers wanted him to look dopier, simple, and as for his smoother features...puberty. Im betting its been about a year since the whole RF and SSB fiasco and he's about 17. Maybe its about time we show Abe the "What is Happening to My Body" slide show that we all watched in Junior High?
|
euugh.. that movie was frightening.
|
what do you mean?
what's going to happen to my body? where'd these hairs come from?!? :D hehehe lol j/k |
so mudokons change there skin colors like octopusses?
could be |
Hes ageing theres the explanation why his face looks a little different and his voice sounds a little different. It has to be!
|
*cough* Or it could just be a game that changes over the years *cough*
I mean look at how Mario has changed... For comic strip fans look how Garfield used to be drawn originaly!! Yikes! I like Abe's new "rounded out" look, it's very solid and pleasing to me. |
wow, i didnt expect this many responses!!!
anyways, am i the only one that notices the radical geometric difference in the lower part of Abe's face? i mean, in AO & AE, his lips were flaps of skin parched out in front of his face like a sideways tent, but in MO his mouth is no more than a large bulge...i don't think that that is character development...personally i think that they kinda slacked in the development in the 3D models. Another thought that i had (these don't happen often, so i have to note them when i have one): since the in game models were only some blurry pixels in the first two games, maybe they didn't have to think about the functuality of Abe's facial features from the Gamespeak screen (i.e. polygon count, in-game models, etc.). Maybe they had to make the Gamespeak screen look more like the game and FMV's instead of vice versa. Just thought i'd share that. :) EDIT: sorry, clicked add reply instead of preview-- had to spellcheck! [ January 07, 2002: Message edited by: MudokonOddball ] |
